Came across this and found it very interesting. Its photos taken 100 years ago but they may as well have been taken with a modern camera.

Photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944) undertook a photographic survey of the Russian Empire with the support of Tsar Nicholas II. He used a specialized camera to capture three black and white images in fairly quick succession, using red, green and blue filters, allowing them to later be recombined and projected with filtered lanterns to show near true color images. The high quality of the images, combined with the bright colors, make it difficult for viewers to believe that they are looking 100 years back in time - when these photographs were taken, neither the Russian Revolution nor World War I had yet begun. Collected here are a few of the hundreds of color images made available by the Library of Congress, which purchased the original glass plates back in 1948

Thanks for that Dundalk, it's good to see such rare pictures of my country. It looks like most of those pictures were taken in the caucasus region where I was born.

Its simply that i thought they were good and I thought I would share and see if others thought the same.

Whats wrong with that?

And judging by some of the comments left some people liked them!!

However, for people who are into photography can find this thread interesting for them (I'm not interested in photography I just find pictures nice to see

The whole point of it Woof is that the pictures were taken in 1910 and the quality of them is very good most of the time if you see pictures from that era they would look like this

There is nothing spectacular about the photos them selves, just the picture quality for the time. When you see them in full colour and good quality I think people can relate to them more rather then photos like the one above

Woof Woof, seriously dude these photos are amazing! These are taken in the years when colour photography was first developed. It's very rare to be able to visualise 100 years ago as clearly as this - think about the photos of your great grandparents etc.

The definition and colour reproduction of some of these are better than many point n shoot digital cameras of today.

Very interesting DD.

The photos were taken 100 years ago and the quality is that good

Is not that hard?

It dosent natter were they were taken its that fact that they are 100 years old
