Yeah , it was some time before I realised the second world war was the basis for the good versus evil bit . The Nazgul  being a representation of german stuka dive bombers , Saruman and Sauron being  Hitler and Mussolini.

I must have another read. :)

I havent Woof, I used to live in London but cant remember the names of stores to be honest apart from Mr Byrite  :D

Its Gabriel Garcia marquez a Colombian author I think.  The best one is a hundred years of solitude sort of a modern day fairytale type thing

I think he was also involved in Motorcycle diaries the film script great film I thought also a decent book.

Ambrose also did Band of Brothers and Pegasus Bridge books I like his style he uses interviews from people who were actually there with the tactical thinking at the time

Ive got it as well good stuff wouldnt mess with Winters

Same team that did Private Ryan trying to make it as realistic as possible. After watching Private Ryan a few of us popped in to the working mens club on the way home makes you see all the old codgers in a completely different light.

Stalingrad is another good book but berzerk that was one crazy war

My specialist area is war on the eastern front . I have nothing but total respect for the german soldiers bravery and endurance.
Some unbelievable heroism shown.
Look out for a book called "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer, it'll bring tears to your eyes.
