The comedian Bill Hicks told the story of how he was sitting reading in a diner in somewhere like Alabama one of those diners where the menu is a set of pictures and the waitress asked him
"Why are ya reading ? "( not WHAT are you reading)
he repied "So I dont have to work in a diner " :D  :D  :D

I like military history, tales of exploration and historical fiction plus a bit of Sci Fi.

Really enjoyed the book Shogun , when the japanese speak jap it's printed in japanese as the main european character doesn't understand the language but as the book progress and he learns to speak jap so the dialog is gradually printed in english , nice touch and a bit of a free lesson in japanese.  :)
