So no permission given for Madrid to talk with Gerrard yet a deals been done in prinicpal. Absolute rubbish. You can really see Madrid doing a deal of this magnitude but then allow Gerrard to back track depending who we bring in as manager. Its utter garbage.

The latest report from the Liverpool Echo

PEPE REINA has voiced his concerns that Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard may call time on their Liverpool careers this summer.

The Reds goalkeeper fears that if Torres and Gerrard were to quit for pastures new, it would be almost impossible for Liverpool to challenge for a Champions League spot again.

“Of course there is concern about Fernando and Stevie,” he said. “Not just them, but others, too. Any team would count on Stevie and Fernando as big names.

“For us, it’s the same. Without them, it would be really tough to be up there at the top next season.

“Fingers crossed, once we sort out the situation with the manager and the owners – which we hope is soon – hopefully we can focus on building a squad for the future.”

Reina made clear his wish after the final game of last season at Hull that he wanted Tom Hicks and George Gillett to sell up and quit Anfield for the good of the club
That it was actually Benitez who left rattled Reina, as he looks up to Inter Milan’s manager as a father figure; he accepts, though, it is time to move on.

“We are all on the same boat and we want to redecorate the ship,” he said. “We want to be a lot stronger, more consistent and create and build a proper squad.

“We want to be contenders for the title once again. I’ve had time to think about (Benitez going) and I guess it’s one of those things.

“Football is football, it happens, and I always say the same – Liverpool will remain forever, which is the most important thing.”

Meanwhile, Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has refused to be drawn on the vacant manager’s job at Liverpool.

Hodgson, working as a pundit for the BBC at the World Cup in South Africa, said: “I’m Fulham manager. To be honest there’s a lot of speculation but I can’t enlighten you.”

I think if Pepe is voicing his concerns  we all should start to worry slightly about what personnel we are going to actually be left with once the fleecing  has ceased  :(
Right that's enough of this depressing sh*te I'm off into town to watch England with the lads going to get completely r@t@rsed :D

feck them, if they weren't thinking bout leaving they would have said.

They're both obviously thinking bout their futures while the fans and other players wait for their decisions.

Wish we had more players with the attitude of Pepe.

Pepe's with Torres and no-doubt in touch with Gerrard too, if only by SMS.. Mascha's reps apaprently talking to Inter .. this is not good. Pepe has been a calming influence and for him to say this conerns me more.

He could be clamouring for the capatin's arm bad though :D

No not funny.. agree with Ciggy, when I saw Spain play that day, I felt NO affiliation with them.. I was gald Bad Bob's Swiss beat'em :O
