My answer is - i dont honestly know.

Like 7_kewell is saying though in a strange way it is coming accross that some are just waiting for an opportunity to say i told you so because Rafa was sacked.

All this talk of asset stripping now he has gone to me is rubbish.
If that happens that would have happened regardless of whether he was here or not. He had no actual final say.

He went imo because we were an absolute disgrace last season.
Some cant accept that choosing to let him off because of the ownership situation.

Agreeing again with 7_kewell i also support LFC and not Rafa fc. He had his chance and wasnt quite upto it.
I wish him well and appreciate he did his best but we move on.....or some of us try to anyway.

Respect has to be earned and the owners do not have mine, nor the CEO nor MD. Wheeling in a new manager, the end game of a sorry sacking will not immediately earn my respect nor admiration. Of course I will give the guy a chance but he must prove his value, it doesnt come automatic.

So, píss anyone off enough in a relationship and they´ll start to question whether their partner is the right one which which the owners/ceo/md, in my case, is not the right partner.

Look RBG, Benitez WAS given the benefit of the doubt for a LONG time. The simple fact is, is that he just wasn't wasn't doing it. Last season was just the straw that broke the camel's back for many. That we're in a bad position at the moment is a given, there would be few who'd disagree. But, let's not pretend that he was going to magically turn things around an knock out a Premiership title next season or anything close. It wasn't going to happen. The guy was out of ideas and many people had simply run out out of patience with him and that was over a NUMBER of years, not just last year's fiasco, regardless of how many people want to pretend it was simply about last year.

It was Benitez himself and his actions that brought fans to their various decisions, whether that was stay or go.

Personally, I didn't relish the thought of another season with Benitez at the helm. The football was godawful, the ideas non-existent, the outlook stale and I just had no faith any more that he could get the most of the present squad deliver the goods.

It was Raphael Benitez and his imprint on the team who brought me to that conclusion and it's a conclusion that's very difficult to get away from.

As a business, Rafael Benitez made money for Liverpool, in the same way that Wenger makes money for Arsenal.

At the end of the day, its about making money.

YOUR agenda is different from the club´s, he wasn't sacked for his performance on teh field, he was sacked because of differences of opinion off it.

Do you agree as this is a fundemental point between the anti-rafas and those who are :censored:

If you're asking me Reg, I cannot say for absolute certainty why he was sacked. I'm not privy to that information. i don't sit on the board. But, yes, i would suspect it had more to do than just performance.

However, I can only give my opnions on Benitez, just like everyone else here and that was that he simply wasn't doing what was required and I couldn't see him doing "it" in the future either. For that reason, I believed it was time for him to move on. However, as I have said, that certainly doesn't mean that Liverpool are out of the swamp just yet.

But, I really don't believe for a second that if Benitez had stayed that we would have been looking at a future that was any brighter in any real way.

I know some on here don't like those wiews, but I have to call it as I see it.

What is the definition of brighter?

The club had a stable squad, cheap manager (compared to quality replacements), cup successes and until this season CL qualification league placings and was profitable. From a BUSINESS perspective - not an emotional one - why sack the lad?

We had two scrappy cup successes (albeit the CL win in 2005 was one of the most dramatic victories for LFC but it could have gone either way), hovered around 4th spot and played terrible football for the most part, with no real hope of improvement. Dodgy decisions on the pitch, a rocky transfer market record, wasting money on players he didn't like/use and a real reluctance to fix what was wrong with his method and approach.

From a business perspective, when viewed that way, it doesn't look that great. From a football perspective it's bloody terrible.

Again, I cannot say with absolute certainty why "they" finally sacked Benitez (especially after he got a 5 year contract 12 Months earlier).

But, in MY opinion (and that's all I can speak for)...for the reasons above, he deserved to go.

I have had enough of this now its like continually opening up scar tissue on a old head wound ....it literally is akin to banging your head against a wall while accepting their will be no effect on the ridiculously dense exterior ... when are people going to see the blindingly obvious I have stated time and time again the football was irrelevant it was simply indicative of the turmoil raging at the club .... we had a manager who was causing continual problems for the owners and their lackeys and they needed to rid themselves of this obstruction so their stripping of the clubs assets could continue without a whimper of descent from inside Anfield .....

Rafael Benitez provided a voice for the fans who read his body language and retorts to the media like he had penned a personal letter ,the man made enough hints alluding to the state of the Club .... but it seems only some fans were able to decipher these .................... Now there is silence inside Anfield ...albeit from the not so subtle sound of the removal men going quietly about their business with little opposition, because the man that has provided that opposition for the last few years has been cowardly removed from the Club while on holiday

so they are now free to pillage the club in their own sweet time

Please say you have formed at least an insight into how dark and bleak our future will be until we our completely rid of this colonial syphilis

CL every year bar one, tv rights and very high brand image is the sure and steady way to build a new stadium.

You keep screaming its your opinion, just be honest, say you want to win the league.

Rafa had to sell to buy and Manure and Chelsea over the course of a season were, and still are too strong. The 5 year contract he signed demonstrated the owners wanted stablity, to restructure the club (due their fúck ups) and were prepared to wait.

Sorry mate, the anti-rafas were singing from their hearts, not from the clubs balance sheet.

The owners must really regret letting him go, its going to cost us dearly both in the balance sheet and short term on the field.
The idea must have been to get new owners in then let them make any decisions.

Reg, the 'poor Rafa had no money' argument doesn't stack up when you consider that Everton finished two points behind us. How much have they spent in comparison to us?
