I recently stumbled on an article that said the first ever U20 World Championships in American Football are taking place this summer. And the US is playing. Those are going to be the most lopsided games in sport history.  We play the French first round :D

bUT YOU GUYS NEVER COME ANYWHERE IN THE BASEBALL WORLD CUP RIGHT?  :p

(damned caps)

our best players usually decide not to play. We are very very very very very much club over country over here. Our footie league even goes on DURING the World Cup. Its embarrassing that we got the bronze medal in Athens in basketball because so many players refused to play.

and southcoast, the ashes doesn't count. Only two countries play in the Ashes. Whereas all the cricket playing countries compete in the Cricket World Cup, and its winner is the "World Champ"

i am just happy you took it seriously. Plus it makes the fact that we won the last won sweeter, knowing that there are people out there in Europe that care about the Ryder Cup.

I think that is the interesting thing about Golf. It is the best uniformly exported sport from the UK to its other English speaking countries.  Seems like all her other former colonies felt the need to make their own version of football that is king in each country, whereas golf is probably close to the same level of popularity in the UK, America, South Africa, and Australia.

Two incredible results over the weekend at the World Baseball Classic. The Netherlands beat the Dominican Republic and Australia beat Mexico 17-7. They stopped the game early because the Aussies we beating them so badly. AND IT WAS PLAYED IN MEXICO CITY.   To put these results in footie terms the first game would be like Iceland beating Argentina in group play of the World Cup. and the other result would be similar to Serbia winning 4 -0 in Germany in the last world cup. unbelievable.

bit ironic that. Since the Ryder cup only involves Europeans and Americans. Since when did that become EVERYONE.

Also, the world series is just a phrase. In America we would call the final series in the Dutch baseball league, the "Dutch World Series" just like we call the championship in the Caribbean the "Caribbean World Series"   Its a brand name like Super Bowl.

I saw an Asian girl play ping pong in Amsterdam before - she was terrible, didn't use her hands, wasn't even standing up most of the time  :D

A big boxing match always gets me interested.

Although right now, Ireland vs Wales for the Grand slam is the biggest sporting event in the world (well - for me) as we haven't won the grand slam since 1948.
