The Alonso Thread - hands in transfer request

Liverpool Football Club - The Players Lounge

Dundalk wrote:Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports News today that the Spanish giants are once again talking to the Reds about the transfer, though there is a significant disparity between each club's valuation of the player.

"Real Madrid and Liverpool are talking about the future of the player," Balague said. "There's been an offer made by Real Madrid of €25 million which, funnily enough, is inferior to the offer made about three weeks ago, the last time they talked when there was a fax with an offer of €27 million.

"Now it's 25, and Liverpool are asking for €35 million, plus five (million). So there is still a big difference between what Real Madrid are offering and what Liverpool want.

"But the news is both clubs are talking for the first time in three weeks."

The fu.cking cheek to come back with an offer smaller than the original!!

I still say they meet the asking price or they fu.ck off.

If Alonso is unhappy, tough sh.it.  He'll still have to produce the goods for another season if he wants to play any sort of role in the world cup.  He has three years on his contract so no way should we be caving in to these fu.ckers.

Alonso handing in the request will set the wheels in motion but that dosn't mean we have to be ripped off.Remember Martin O'neil with Barry last season.Rafa needs to dig his heels in and get the best possible deal.

In other words 25m plus Schneider

RM make me sick, don't fuking sell him if they don't pay the price we want. 80m for Ronaldo and 25m for Alonso?? We will be a joke if we sell him for that price. Ribery also wants to leave Munich, but the club set the price tag as much as of Ronaldo's. Now, if RM really wants him then she will pay it, the same thing we should do in Xabi's case. I am really gutted.

Bit disrespectful that calling him a little c*nt. He's a world class player that came to us and offerd us 5 years of service and improved our credentials as a team and a club by doing so. If the fella wants to leave, then no one can say a thing about it. It's his career and his life and good luck to the fella. His homeland is Spain also. What else can you say? And when was the last time we were "ar$e raped by Madrid"?

We got Xabi for 10 million and if we do get 20 for him, that's double what we paid. But for what he's worth, I'd take 20 million and one of theirs. Everyone's happy.

Take Xabi in the office, give him a slap round the ear, tell him to stop being such a fanny
and grow up and act like a man.

I would rather have an unhappy Alonso for a season then sell him next summer than be bullied around for 25 million Euros.

The thing is ER he's screwing us over , even barry didn't hand in a transfer request , not even robbie keane , they waited for us to make the offer that the respective clubs wanted and we did that in the case of keane but not for barry and we got 1 of them. Alonso should respect rafa and wait till madrid pay up what we want and the worst thing is he's handing it in 2 weeks before the season starts

seriously, how much could some sessions with the best couples counseling therapist possibly cost?  Surely much cheaper than how much money Madrid are trying to screw us out of.

Owen springs to mind, mcmanaman,  probably arbeloa too

Now alonso wants to walk out for 20mil, could of at least got us a decent price instead of forcing rafa to let him go for peanuts

It's football and it happens. If he wants to go, then fair enough. I don't think he's intentionally screwing anyone over. He's just making it clear for his own personal reasons, whatever they may be, that he wants to go. And from what I remember of last year, wasn't Xabi the target of a debate that went on for ages regarding him being shipped out the door for Barry? He's probably not felt wanted since. Or maybe he's just homesick.

I wouldn't. I'd rather have a player who is hungry and wants to play at his best than a player who's head is somewhere else. It comes to tell on the pitch.

Barry didn't hand in a transfer request because he'd have lost out on a big loyalty fee. I'm not sure Xabi has that in his contract.

If he wants to go and RM will pay £30m+ then sell him. If not then tell him he's staying for another 3 years and to get used to it. If he doesn't try then he'll end up on the bench and be flogged to an average team when his contract is up.

The ball is in Rafa's court.
