Fuc'king better not be true!

Theres no way that Rafa will let Alonso go to Chelsea!

Unless they wanna give us Joe Cole or Ballack they can do one!

If Rafa thinks that Alonso must be sold, then it means he thinks we can win the league with other midfielders, for instance Barry.

In the case he has to go, what we need mates is money. Money that will buy us Silvas not Degens.

The player has already told us what he wants, he's fallen in Love with Liverpool and the Kop since day one (and this quotes are directly from Alonso to Sabre in a San Sebastian pub, no journos manipulation involved). But if he has to go? Money, money, money.

Either you think Alonso is necessary to win the league and you keep him, or you sell him to the best bid, no feelings.

More proof Xabi will be gone.

espn.com "Reds' Alonso 'waiting' on transfer to Juventus"

Absolutely gutted.

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso is waiting to hear from Juventus after admitting he would be open to a move to Turin.

The Spain international has been closely linked with a switch to the Serie A giants after four seasons in England with the Reds.

'I am waiting,' Alonso told Gazzetta dello Sport from Spain's training base in Neustift.

'I know that Juve are interested and I also know there has been contact with Liverpool and with my agent.

'I am really very proud that a club so strong and historic as Juve like me. Juve is a very special club and one that I like.'

The 26-year-old, who has a contract with Liverpool until 2012, believes he would have no problem adapting to life in Serie A.

'It has nothing to do with characteristics or where you are,' he said.

'A good player feels comfortable anywhere.

'After four years in the Liga and four in the Premiership, to play in Italy would be like completing my career.'
" Some people say football is a matter of life and death, I don't like this attitude, I can assure them, its much more serious then that "

- Billy Shanks.

Alonso to Chelsea? On one hand im thinking we should tell them to :censored: of after they refused to sell Duff to us a few seasons back. And they were not going to let us have SWP either. Then again if it is Chelsea involved perhaps a straight swapfor SWP could be good? We gain a decent right winger. To be honest we need the money and if we can get a good swap deal then we can rinse Chelsea out.

And anyway im sure the Cheslsea thing is rubbish. They dont even have a manager. Is Peter Kenyon sorting out transfers? lol

I wouldn't swap SWP for Alonso... I would however think about swapping Joe Cole for Alonso...

I think that's a pretty fair question to the lads who think that Alonso is not good enough for Liverpool anymore ( for whatever reasons and i know they are mostly valid ). Would you be unworried if Alonso was to go to Chelsea? Would he improve there chances of winning the league and therfore impeading our chances?

That at the end of the day - is it.

IMHO if, and a big IF, there is someone who will contribute more positively towards winning the league then Xavi goes.

I can justify it more easily in those terms.

The sarcasm dosis was very small, I don't use sarcasm in pure state often, only in certain cases -- sarcasm is like antibiotics, if you use it too much, it has no effect.

And my opinion is that if you truly think that he's not necessary for our success anymore, yet you wouldn't want him to play for Chelsea, that's a decission directed by emotions but actually not the best option for Liverpool F.C. Specially considering we don't seem to have the financial backup Rafa needs to make us go forward as fast as we'd like.

For emotional reasons, myself I only want to play Xabi in Liverpool. For emotional reasons, it would be nicer for me forgetting about Xabi in a league I don't watch like Seria A, rather than watching how Xabi plays against us.

But, if I leave feelings aside mate, I think that if we receive a Chelsea-esque sum for him, we can use that money to be better as a team, which is the point.

This is why I was unhappy with so much hurry in the Juventus move, because summer is long, there's an Euro on front of us, and the value of the player can't go lower than the offer Juventus already has put on the table.

Fortunately, my main worry has been dispelled, as it seems Rafa won't sell inmediatly.

I would sell Alonso to the highest bidder (even Chelsea) but only if we get a top quality player with the money. If we are going to get 3 squad players instead, I would rather keep Alonso.

I agree with both saint and Sabre, if we are looking to raise funds then we should sell to the highest bidder regardless of who it is. If Chelsea are going to get involved (which I don't think they will TBPH) then much the better.
