Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Athletico Madrid's Pablo Ibanez

The Spanish defender has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, but is apparently unaware of the latest rumours.

"I know nothing directly and don't want to get distracted from my job," he said. "All I know is that I belong to Atletico Madrid and the rest, for now, doesn't bother me."

Atletico director of sport Toni Munoz has admitted that scouts had been to watch Ibanez in action this season but was adamant that they had no intention of selling him.

"We have not received an offer for him," Munoz said. "For the time being there is nothing to be said on the matter."

How good is he, Anfieldadorer? Even the best defenders from the Continent from a league with some physical contact like Holland - Jaap Stam - struggled until he came to terms with the EPL. I'd think that a Spanish-based defenders will take quite some time to adjust to the EPL.

Any good defenders are welcomed, especially if they can play the zonal marking at set peices the way Benithez wants.

Based on the above data, he is young and tall. He needs to be quick (both feet and mind) as well to play in an effective zonal marking defence system, especially at set pieces.

At this point, anyone who can defend on set pieces is more than welcome.

Seems to me that the lad doesn't brush his teeth quite often, but who gives a damn, as long as he can defend.

Well, stinky breath may be an effective defense

Anfieldadorer, if he has stinky breath, you can bet that van horseface will find a way to be "on the recieving end" of this and fall theatrically to get a penalty. Is it a good idea...? :D

It looks like he was called up to the National Team to replace the injured Juanito.

He can't be all bad...

You have a point, he can't be all that bad except for his breath maybe.
