What we consistently see from the substitute ratings is they rarely come on and do well. In fact, most struggle to get a better score than the man they've replaced.

Well that is expected if they only have 10 minutes to make an impact. A score of 5 is fair in most cases, it represents a neither good or bad performance. Average.

Remember the score out of 10 is not necessarily to be compared to other players it should be a rating of what is expected from that player for the time he is on. No one expects wonders from a player on for 10 mins, hence a score of 5.

How many subs are expected to outperform the man they replace? If this was the case they would of started.

Could it be that generally speaking they're not as good as the man they've replaced ?, just a thought Reg .

Also think with regard to the sub ratings Reg, they rarely have enough time to make a significant impact anyway, positive or negative, hence the default 5 (average) rating that are usually awarded.

Reina - 5
Kelly - 4 ,should do more to proove himself ,wasn't a factor.
Carragher - 5 ,fair enough
Skrtel - 5 ,fair enough
Konchesky - 3 ,no defence no offence ,nothing
Kuyt - 4 , careless with the ball
Lucas - 3 ,standard Lucas performance
Gerrard - 5 ,Maybe it's not fair to expect him to carry the team but we have no choice.
Meireles - 4 ,for a passer he was pathetic ,but he was sick so..
Maxi - 4 ,not the same player after his injury ,was very slow
Torres - 6 ,almost unfair having such a quality player which gets no service.

Subs
Shelvey (Meireles) - 4 ,was terrible but he is gets a young player factor
Poulsen (Kuyt) - 4, Roy thinks this is still the Sevilla player ,he isn't.
Eccleston (Maxi) - 5 ,he runs fast ,at least he has that.

Roy - 3, If the team keeps playing that bad it has to do something with the manager ,either tactics ,motivation skills i don't know. Subs were terrible and sent a straight message to the team let's secure a point. not good enough ,again.
