Reina - 6 ,not much to do ,looked a bit insecure.
Kelly - 5 ,looked rusty ,as time goes by i fail to detect real quality in the lad ,not the best of defenders and not a great deal of help to attack
Carragher - 7 ,good game other then the wild penalty tackle
Coates - 5, Very disappointing ,looked clumsy and careless
Robinson - 5 ,type of players we don't need ,kinda ok but no more
Kuyt - 7 ,good work out for Dirk

and scored
Spearing - 5 ,apart from the terrible mistake on the penalty ,lost the midfield on the 2nd half ,again type of players which we don't need.
Lucas - 5 ,looked poor old lucas again. Lost the midfield.
Maxi - 6 ,ok game
Suarez - 6 ,ok game
Bellamy - 9 ,MOTM ,scored ,set the other goal ,hit the cross bar ,run like crazy ,instant impact. Should start games.

Subs
Gerrard (Suarez) - 6 ,looked focused and comfortable.
Flanagan (Kelly) - 5 ,not enough time on the pitch

Reina - 6.hadnt much to do but flapped at a few crosses.
Kelly - 6
Carragher - 7.maybe an 8 but cant overlook another pen,otherwise faultless.
Coates - 6.
Robinson - 5.got forward but got exposed when he did.
Kuyt - 6.good first half.
Spearing - 5.
Lucas - 6.
Maxi - 6.another that was good first half but was anonymous in the 2nd,and only for the pass thru to kuyt you would have thought he was subbed at half time.
Suarez - 7.
Bellamy - 8.my motm,worked tirelessly.

Subs
Gerrard (Suarez) - 5
Flanagan (Kelly) - 5

again we struggled in the 2nd half and couldnt match them for quality for long periods.
still a result is all that matters and we march on to the next round.

Reina - 6 , Not a lot to do
Kelly - 6, needed the game and struggled a little at times, will benefit from playing
Carragher - 7, I thought he did okay, shame about the penalty
Coates - 6, didn't really impress but far too early to judge
Robinson - 6, like Kelly will be better for having played, could have defended some crosses better, but he is still very young
Kuyt - 7, as ever worked hard
Spearing - 6, as above but a bit wasteful with the ball at times
Lucas - 6, steady
Maxi - 6, faded badly the second half
Suarez - 6, looked tired late in the game, would rather he was rested to be honest
Bellamy - 8, lively and creative, exactly what we missed against Tottenham

Subs
Gerrard (Suarez) - 6, good to see him back
Flanagan (Kelly) - 4, not on for long enough to comment

so you "can't see any quality in kelly"? that's laughable. what player have you been watching?

and as for robinson, he's still a teenager ffs with barely any first team experience. what do you mean by he'e not the "type" of player we need. he's still learning the game ffs and yet i've still seen him have excellent games, like when he marked walcott out of the game at the emirates last season.

as for spearing, he was excellent last season and lets face it he couldn't do any worse than the likes of adam or henderson at the moment. as for not needing players of his "type" i don't see any of our other midfielders who are willing to press the ball like he does. he forms a better partnership with lucas than any other of our central midfielders.
