I wonder if maybe they hold an advantage in having already got his mate Fellaini.

Anyway his agent has said he would not refuse us. He is an emerging talent so we should not pass up this chance if it presents itself.

But then again the Aquilani deal seems all but dotted on the i's so is there really even any point in talking abou Defour?

Having Fellaini may be an advantage from his personal perspective, but the bitters are scottish when it comes to money and baulk at any kind of fee. I think if it were otherwise they'd have signed Dufour before.

I wouldn't go for him, or Arteta. Joe Cole would be a good signing, but Chelsea have said they aren't looking to sell haven't they? (after spudz' interest)
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

No, and if they were they wouldn't sell to us let alone for any reasonable price.

If the Aqua chap can stay fit, he'll be a top purchase. Its a bit of a risk though.

I'd go for Silva and Cattermole.

Valbuena could be a useful one too. Although I think there could be a few other teams in for him.

Why don't we get Aquilani and Dafour then we'd have plenty of cover and attacking options.

I'd still prefer we broke the bank and got some one of Villa's calibre though, we desperately need a second quality striker.

Rafael Benitez today reflected on Xabi Alonso's imminent move to Real Madrid and insisted: "We'll bring in the best replacement."
Alonso successfully completed a medical in the Spanish capital today after the two clubs agreed the terms of his transfer.

"We would like to keep him but as soon as he told us that he wanted to leave we started working, looking for players and trying to do the best deal for the club," said the Liverpool manager.

"It has been too long, since May, that he told us he wanted to leave and after the official transfer request we were working very hard.

"The first idea was to keep him, and the second one was to find the best price and the best replacement for us."

Well looks like we will be spending some money :)

This Darfor fella doesnt have a chance being Belgian, Rafa only knows Spanish players. He probably thinks Aquilini is spanish as well.

Yeah but Rafa thought that Dossena was a good replacement for Riise, actually he probably had a fair point there.  :p  :D

Well good to see we'll be bringing in a big name to replace Xabi.. i would have liked it better if we went for Villa but guess thats pretty much out of the question now..

Aquilani, get him fit and he'll be a huge player for us... in 2 or 3 years if Gerrard starts losing his pace and we're still using the same formation i can see him and Aquilani swapping positions.. Very similar to Gerrard in many ways except Aquilani is probably a little smaller.. Direct, can carry the ball through the middle, and is a goal threat.... exactly what we need...

i would take Riise ahead of Dossena any day of the week...
Hopefully the scout who recommended Dossena got sacked !
useless waste of money!

To be fair I probably would as well but Riise did have a horrible last season with us.
