However at the end of the day, this Championship Manager style will eventually end up being detrimental to them as they'll be severe unrest in the changing rooms from players who aren't playing regularly.
In the short term though, nowt can be done. Frustrating, isn't it?
How do you compete with a team that has lost a quarter of a BILLION pounds in the last two years, spent a quarter of a BILLION on players in the last 3 years or so, AND strictly speaking are £200m in debt. Its utter boll#cks, isn't it?
stmichael wrote:i've got a conspiracy theory on this ballack signing because quite simply it doesn't make sense. like you say lynds, his ego is massive and for this reason it doesn't seem like a typical maureen signing.
if they want ballack it appears to be for one of two reasons:
1) frank lampard is leaving next season and ballack is seen as an ideal replacement.
2) maureen is leaving.

Despite winning two La Liga titles and two European Cups, he thought that Del Bosque didn't fit in with the image of the club and sacked him.
Incidently, that summer they turned down the chance to sign Ronaldinho because "he was too ugly to be a galactico."
Staggering.
