To win or not to win

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby A.B. » Mon Jan 24, 2005 3:08 pm

Tomorrow there is no in-between, a draw would personally to me be just as bad as a loss because it will not help our mentality and our confidence. A win tomorrow could change the outcome of our season and it may not, it all depends on how we play.

We've been in tough sh1t before and gotten out if it at the end, we got to do the same thing tomorrow. We could play the best game of our lives and we could play another p1ss poor game. There is no in-between, it's vital that we go on out and beat the living daylights out of Watford.

It won't be easy but we're good enough to mop the floor with them. The players need to be up for a challenge not play without any passion or confidence like they have for the past three games.

Here's what Rafa had to say on the importance of tomorrow's game:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Rafael Benitez says he knows Liverpool are not playing well at the moment but added he and his players are working as hard as ever to put things right and is in a confident frame of mind ahead of the Watford match.
Benitez says more hard work and effort is needed to put things right and said the players want to please the supporters by getting to Cardiff in the Carling Cup Final.

Benitez said: "In football sometimes you win but sometimes you lose. We are very disappointed and me and the players feel the same as the supporters. We can change the situation and we all have a responsibility to work hard.

"The supporters say 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and we are together and will get through this. When you are not playing well you need to work hard and do the best for the club.

"We have lost the last three games but we have a game straight away to put things right. This is a good chance to get to a cup final and we go into the game with confidence.

"In the first game Watford had two or three good chances but after watching the video of the game I think we controlled the game. We won't go there thinking it will be easy and it will be difficult for us, but as always the idea is to work hard, play well and win."

If we underestimate this game tomorrow, we're out, it's as simple as that.

Watford intend playing 4-5-1, exactly the same formation we struggled against on Saturday.

The pitch is another pile of sh#te, Saracens Rugby Club played on it on Sunday. There will be a carnival atmosphere, balloons, paper etc., everywhere. The whole town is going mental.

Lewington rested his best players against Crewe, Fulham and Wigan. They are well up for it. They will harass us to death.

Rafa had better have the team pumped up for this or 'Black January' gets blacker.

On the other hand, after the lambasting they've had, I feel confident our lads will be composed and classy. Lose 4 in a row? No chance. We score and they have to score 3 to go through.

Inexperienced? Carson did well for Leeds last year in the Premiership. Dudek was experienced and let another laughable goal against Man Utd.

Bearing in mind that Gerrard was carrying an injury against southampton I would be tempted to leave him out for this game . Considering the flak he has received from so called LFC supporters for his performance in that match I'm surprised so many of you continue to put him in your starting eleven .
Fking hypocrites .
