Theres a new cup in town............

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Dalglish » Sat May 28, 2005 1:28 am

Please do not adjust your sets, normal service has been resumed and Liverpool are Champions of Europe !  :D

Its difficult to put into words the momentous events of the week. I mean where do you hope to begin to describe what we have witnessed this week ? Seemingly dead and buried at half time only to rise from the depths with one almighty collective effort and triumph in what amny have described as the greatest comeback of all time .

This was no ordinary opposition............AC Milan were, lets be honest awesome in that first half bossing every area of the pitch and deserving of their half time lead. Littered with world class players, Milan had an air of superiority and self belief which lit up the Istanbul sky.....

But Liverpool are no ordinary team either and whatever they put in the half time tea they should bottle cos i'd certainly enjoy a pint of that !

Subsequent interviews with Carragher and Gerard would reveal that even they thought it was lost at half time but summonned one last effort to try and get back into the game.

However two key factors at half time must have been Rafa Benitez's tactical switch and the response of the LFC fans as the players entered for the second half. The rendition of YNWA was simply breathtaking and if ever the players needed to hear that song it was then !

The rest they say and as it has been so often for Liverpool Football Club is history.

Theres a new cup in town and its here for keeps :D

Walk on .............

Posted elswwhere too.. trust the wise one to come up with a thread for my post afterwards..  My feelings after winning.. a poem.. well sort off... for me to put in  context what this triumph means..

... as the mighty red machine lined-up againt the team from the Azzuri..
... I shut my eyes and saw Gerrard lift the cup...
...barely had the ball been touched, when Maldini arose to score
...but hope remained and faith without doubt

... and the curse of Chelski.. seemed to have followed us again..
....as Crepso finished crisply to shatter dreams; despair, disbelief and desolation set in
... my beloved I prayed be spared a thrashing.. dignity be thy name

... half time and the spirit of  granduer gathered above... as the legends of the past breathed their spirit into the immortals of today
... my spirtits lifted as the captain rose to score...
... and as the balance of power began to shift
... the red onslaught began.. Vladi and then..
... Goooooooooaaaaallll   XAbi Alonsooooooooooooooooooooooooo
...
... 3-3 , what 3-3, naa 3-3

.... the miracles of all miracles had happened.. destiny had shown her hand..
....chiseling forever in history, the name of my heart,  my spirit.. Liverpool Football Club..
.... Ol big ears.. welcome home for good..

The cup doesn't look like any of the above pictures anymore...now that Baros has dropped it!

I hope to return to England one day (it's been 13 very long years) and to visit Anfield and be able to see the cup for myself.
