Rick parry. - His side of the story.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby bigmick » Sat Nov 08, 2008 1:59 am

I was just wondering if anybody had any idea what it is? Each time we miss out on a player, it's "Coco the clowns fault". Each time contract negotiations break down, it's down to Rick. I've seen him implicated in the choice of new owners, our lack of commerical success, and now the "rift" between Rafa and the academy.

Now he's either spectacularly inept, or has become something of a fall guy. It seems that if you question the manager you get jumped on, but blame any of clubs ills on Rick Parry and you're alright by us. The Yanks don't like him, the fans don't like him and Rafa doesn't like him.

Can it really be so though that Raick Parry is so much a catalyst for all that has gone wrong with the club? Has he ever done anything right, if so what is it?

If he were on the forum what would he offer up in his defence? What does he think of the manager and the owners?

For my part, I simply cannot believe that he is the devil incarnate that he is sometimes painted on here. If he was as bad as many seem to think and carried as much influence, we'd just get rid and win the quadruple every season.

Rick parry and his tenure at the helm of LFC.

I give you since 1992 , he has overseen (along with David Moores i might add ) us going from the formost commercially successful club in the world to also rans behing Man u Chelseas and arsenal  and others probably . He has overseen the selling of the family silver to a pair of carpetbaggers that have seen our club sink to depths unimaginable 20 years ago . He has dithered on transfers ,been on his jollies whilst transfers should have been done and dusted . What did Parry get from the yanks ,that he wouldn't have gotten from DIC . Well he got a brand spanking new Ferrari , a nice bonus of £500.000 and a promise of a job .

Mr parry is as culpablle for the near ruination of this club as the two yanks . He bigmick is the biggest w@nker of the lot . All he had to do was go onto the internet and check messers Hicks and Gilletts background and he would never have sold . Instead he pushed there due dilligence through and paved the way for there take over .

Mick i'm seriously not trying to be patronising here mate ,but for crying out loud just because you live in New Zealand doesn't mean your out of touch with reality.

TBH I don't think anyone really knows Parry's side of things. I certainly don't. I would say that bringing in his son as a coach was a pretty stupid act.... no matter how good he is. If there is really a battle going on over the academy its the young football players that will suffer most.

The problem is if Parry comes out and "justifies" his actions over the past few years he would have to do so at the expense of Rafa and there would be only one winner, so maybe its best all round if everyone blames everything on Rick?

Edit Remembered one other good thing Rick has done, he stopped us getting into hot water over signing Masch.

I am not sure about this Igor but....  Parry was appointed as chief executive at Liverpool in July 1998, by then chairman David Moores. He signed a six year deal reported to be worth over £500,000 per year.

Your right saint , he was instrumental in setting up the premier league in 1992 ,so apologies for getting it wrong . What i was getting at was this . He along with David moores have presided over the last twenty years of Liverpool going from the biggest club in the world to well where we are now . Not exactly something that he would want to put on his CV when he gets the boot. He has concistantly failed to do his job .

I think the Gerrard contractual debacle two years on the run were probably a very good reason to sack him. He successfully turned lifelong Gerrard fans into unimaginable shirt burning disillusioned supporters. DON'T BLAME THE SUPPORTERS FOR THEIR UNDERSTANDABLE FRUSTRATIONS - BLAME PARRY !!! Chelseaa of all teams ffs !!!

Personally I think Moore's was just as much to blame over the DIC takeover farce - let's face it he had about eight million reasons to do what he did.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)
