Proud to be red - What a performance

2 - 1 against arguebly one of the best teams in the world - what a bleedin result. Alright some critics out there may think that Arsenal are not playing as well at the moment but they havnt got sh*t loads of players missing like us and havnt got Kewell playing for them - sorry just had to through that in.
I wonder if Benitez will play the same formation because we looked so strong and the passing and link up play in the first half was unbelievable, Arsenal rarley got a string of passes together. The lad Mellor is gaining confidence all the time and god knows what that dream goal will do for him - i still feel he has and enormous amount to learn and could do with losing some weight and working on his fitness but he has potential.
Just imagine if Baros was playing in that role, playing how he was before he was injured - we would have murdered them, not taking anything away from the team and the victory the boys did themselves and the supporters proud.

PS Yet another dodgy decision went against us in the first few minutes with Gerrard not getting rewarded with a penalty, dont want to finish on a sour note but if that was at Old Trafford (the theatre of sh*te) it would be given hands down. So with things going against us with players out, dodgy decisions we still beat a team that didnt lose last season.

Why spoil your post by slagging HK ? The only player to have a hand in both goals !!

Well that is what a forum is for, to speak your mind and i am about HK. If people think that he brings something to the team that is their opinion as it is mine to think he is a hinderence more than help.
I am suprised that when risle plays left back he doesnt give Warnock a chance as he has pace and is willing to take people on and his crosses and delivery must be better then HK, time and time again he gave the ball away and in 1 instance when Gerrards shot was saved it fell to Kewell on the left sode of the box, with no one near him and it just needed a ball sliding in the middle of the 6 yard box where Gerrard and Mellor were waiting to pounce and he somehow managed to blast the ball in row Z - just one example and it is simply not good enough.
I hate to seem as though i am putting a dampner on Yesterdays performance but i am clearly stating a fact that needs addressing soon

That's your right Matt, I just think all this HK crit' is based on perceptions gathered from earlier performances and is not deserved on the basis of yesterday's game. The lad is not perfect, by any stretch of the imagination, but he was there with skill and endeavour, taking a hand in both goals.
I saw a lot of tracking back and pressurising Arsenal players and a huge amount of bravery going for the ball between Vierra and Campbell to win the knockdown for Mellor's goal.
I think he is trying hard, just lacking in confidence and maybe fittness !!

Kewell did not play as badly as he did against boro or brimingham. But you have to look at the fans' point of view too. He has had countless chances to perform.

And when he actually put in a lot of effort against arsenal, fans will only tend to focus on his negatives.

It cuts both ways. Kewell has to come up with the goods soon or he won't have a future here. (will prob end up in bolton with the other has beens).

why play him if he is unfit, doesnt add up to me. I dont think we can keep using the unfit excuse - maybe he is carrying too much weight but thats it. To me Kewell has never fulfilled his potential we saw at Leeds and i wouldnt say he has got better or worse than when we first got him, dont forget this guy is one of our highest paid players and for what he does and his performances he is no way worth what he gets.
If anything he is lacking confidence and it doesnt help from people like me but if he wants to gain confidence he needs to get the fans back on his side by putting in quality performances every week - not saying he has to score or be the dream team star man week in week out but to show desire to win balls take defences on etc and if you have seen him do this than i must be watching a different player

He is in at the moment, fit or unfit, because we have limited options due to injury.
No one will ever know, but I think Warnock would have been overawed by a full game against Arsenal and would not have matched Harry's contribution.
I think Rafa had his current strongest side out on Sunday.
