Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

:(  F.uck sad news that .

Liverpool Football Club was today saddened to hear news that former player Miki Roque has been diagnosed with cancer.

We would like to send our thoughts to Miki and his family after his current club Real Betis confirmed the 22-year-old would have to undergo surgery to remove a tumour in his pelvis.

Roque was on Liverpool's books between 2005 and 2009 and was part of our FA Youth Cup winning team in 2006.

He made just one substitute appearance for the first team in a Champions League clash with Galatasaray in December 2006.

Xabi Alonso was the player he replaced on the night - and the Spanish international today sent his own message of support via Twitter.

Read this before its very sad and puts things in perspective, hope he makes a full recovery. Also im pretty ignorant on the medical side of all this, but does he really have to retire? I mean if the opertion to remove the cancer is a success doesnt that mean he can play on.

Former Liverpool defender Miki Roque will undergo surgery to remove a malignant tumour in his pelvis.

Roque, who now plays for Real Betis in Spain's second division, says doctors have caught the tumour 'in time' and 'it has to be removed immediately'.

The 22-year-old Spaniard will miss the rest of the season. He has scored two goals in 14 appearances this campaign.

Roque joined Liverpool at the age of 17 before moving on to loan spells with Oldham Athletic in England and Spanish clubs Xerez and Cartagena.

best wishes to Miki hope he makes a full recovery YNWA
