What do you mean you no one could haveen this coming?? How much do you know about football??

Owen has always scored goals and always will, no matter who he plays for, when he played for madrid he scored, hes always scored for england and he will always score for Newcastle, hes not in form, hes just Owen doing what he always does, score, trust me if there was no finacial element taking into account, we would have bought him.

Obviously Mourinho is a tw@t and his comments here were clearly a cheap shot at Benitez because he is STILL bitter about us winning the champions league.

Having said that though, his comments about us leaving our transfer dealings until the last minute are accurate.  It was a mistake by Benitez and the board.  Too much time was wasted being messed about first by Figo and then by Madrid over Owen.

The bottom line is that when Figo was asked did he want to come and play for the european champions and he didn't come out and say yes straight away we should have withdrawn the offer. Look at Simao in contrast, the guy was approached on deadline day and obviously said yes straight away because he was already on the plane before Benfica called the deal off.  The Owen fiasco was ridiculous.  He didn't have the balls to tell Madrid he wouldn't go to Newcastle, if he had then he would have been allowed to join us for much less than Newcastle paid for him.  It says a lot about the man and I am not going to get into the Owen debate again, but basically I never wanted him back after the way he left.

So are Mourinho's comments wide of the mark?  No.  Should he be commenting on our transfer dealings in the first place?  No.  Did Benitez and Parry fu.ck up in the transfer dealings over the summer?  Absolutely, which is why they have learned their lesson and have already lined up Gonzalez and Simao for January.

is anyone here familar with the portuguese league? was mourinho up to the same kind of sh!te back then when he managed porto? i'm wondering whether this is his natural game or whether he's been watching ferguson and wenger taking cheap shots at each other and decided to join in. after all, its not just us, he does it with those two aswell, and wenger being the fool he is gets sucked in by it. i don't know why to be honest because mourinho's not even very good at it.

whenever i see his schoolboy jibes at us (and especially us as we 'oh so cruelly' stole the european cup from him) it just makes me realise what a berk he is, and conversely what a good man we have in rafa for not playing his stupid game.

I agree totally what your saying john but if the media ask him  a question on the Owen transfer, hes going to answer it, It wasnt a random outburst, it was an interview and he gave his opinion.....hes a cu.nt i know, but its someone else instigating the interviews

Fair enough Gary, haven't actually seen the interview myself so don't really know what context the comments were made in.

But even so, could you picture Benitez coming out and taking a cheap shot at another manager?  I've never seen it.  Benitez just says 'I only talk about Liverpool' if an interviewer tries to draw him into discussion about Chelsea or United or whoever.  Mourinho on the other hand just can't help himself, he's an attention seeker.

It was ridiculous.

If Liverpool wanted Owen, they should have put in a 'firm' offer on the table when the window opened and when it was clear that Owen was to leave. If Madrid had a firm offer on the table from Liverpool im sure they would have done the deal as Liverpool would have had first preference on Owen.

But, as Rafa didn't want Owen, the matter was dragged on and an offer (a very low one that) was made only after Newcastle offered 17M.

Now, would Owen and Madrid take Newcastles offer - when the club are willing to pay the price and the wages and clearly ''want'' Owen, or Liverpools offer - when the club is just doing so to show the fans and the player that they 'tried' and when the manager clearly doesnt want to go out of his way and buy the striker?

I think Owen and Madrid made the right decission.

NOTE - the biggest mistake in the striking department is not failing to get the services of Owen, but selling the only true goal scorer - Milan Baros.

All the question was about was how the Owen transfer is working out and what he thought, he gave his answer but had to have, once again, a dig at someone, thats what makes are manager stand out more than this clown, hes an attention seeking tw*t, who wants evryone to talk about him.

Even though I can't stand Manure, I was cheering when they beat Chelsea. What really annoyed me was Maureen's inability to give full credit to Betis and Manure.

Both times he made a little crack in his interviews to the effect that they didn't deserve to win.

Manure defends their little coked up hearts out. I think they deserved to win that one. Who knows, that win may delay Fergie getting the flick.

Garymac thats the point i was trying to make.

You were saying Mourinho only answered a question that was asked, and that he's entitled to do that.

Unless the question was....

Where Liverpool a bit slow leaving things to the last minute with Michael Owen...or something along those lines.

Which it looks like it was not, then he has chose to bring ourselves up and take a cheap shot at Rafa and the club.

Whether he plays to the media shouldnt matter....he is a twisted bitter man that needs to learn how to respect others.

What a crock of sh*t. Milan "0ne on one with the keeper...oh no! He's missed again!" Baros a "true" goalscorer!?! What the feck have you been sniffing?
He didn't score a single goal for four months, despite playing virtually every game!!!!! He is a sulky, whiney little mard-a*se who plays when he wants, not when the team need him to deliver.
A true goalscorer indeed!!!!   ???  :D
