The thread "pick 11 from this" gave me an idea, pick a squad of 18 from Rafa buys with their original fees. Rules are simple, please READ THEM before participating.

RULES

- Spending must not exceed £100m, squads must include a minimum of 14 players (starting XI and three subs) but ideally 18 (starting XI plus bench of seven subs)

- Players should be listed in formation with a subs bench

- THREE free transfers per squad, sorry but ZERO players who came up through the ranks ie no Carra, no Gerrard.

- Most definitely no "net transfers" TYVM

- to pre-empt arguments over costs, here are some transfer fees to work with (and not argue with) : Keane £20.3m, Mascherano £18.6m, Torres £21m, Johnson £17.5m Kuyt £10m, Aquilani £20m, Benayoun £5m, Lucas £5m, Alonso £10.5m, Babel £11.5m, Reina £6m, Agger £5.8m, Riera £8m, Cavalieri £3m, Luis Garcia £6m, Skrtel £6.5m, Arbeloa £2.6m, Morientes £6.3m, Crouch £7m, Bellamy £6m, Pennant £6.7m, Kyrgiakos £1.5m, Sissoko £5.6m, Josemi £2m, by default Kromkamp £2m, Dossena £7m, N'Gog £1.5m, Leto £1.6m, Paletta £2m, Gonzalez £1.5m (?), Hobbs £750k, Carson £750k

Could have tucked in Insua as a LB, I think Aurelio is a bit more versatile. Could probably do with a cover FB on the bench, perhaps lose Zenden and put in Insua. Arbeloa could play LB, thought he did pretty well there when asked to, so perhaps that wouldn't be too bad.

And yes Dazzer, it was a bit of fun as opposed to a "dig at Rafa". Perhaps some on here should lighten up and take a day off defending Rafa by having obligatory digs at "Rafa haters". They have to turn everything into being about Rafa, even harmless sh 1t

And just a note, I hadn't looked at Dazzer's XI before picking mine, spookily similar although with the size of budget the £2m-£6.5m players were bound to be prevalent

Yeah its only going to be a little different I think with the 100m but its good to see who people pick as the fringe players more.
