15th april - Lfc should never play on this day

Hillsborough remembrance and related information

Postby Leonmc0708 » Thu Mar 16, 2006 8:33 pm

Some members will have seen or heard about the campaign to stop Liverpool playing on 15th April, (if you dont know, its the anniversary of Hillsborough.

John Murphy, a die hard red if you ever met one, started a petition on-line, you can sign it here LFC should NEVER play on the 15th APRIL.

The thoughts of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign group, and the many fans that follow its worthy cause have been heard loud and clear by Liverpool FC, and thankfully the decision to move the possible clash with Blackburn scheduled for 15th of this April has now thankfully been sanctioned by the club.

This is not the end, go online, take a peek and put your name to it.

from .tv

Liverpool FC have confirmed that their Premiership game at Blackburn Rovers has now been moved to Sunday 16th April, kicking off at 2.30 pm.
Chief Executive Rick Parry commented: "As soon as we were knocked out of Europe and other fixture dates became available, we contacted both Blackburn Rovers and the FA Premier League and we're delighted it has been possible to reschedule the game.

"With the match being moved for a second time, there is obviously a degree of inconvenience for Blackburn Rovers and their supporters and we are very grateful for their co-operation and understanding of the issues involved.

"We were always aware of the feelings expressed by many of our supporters on the original date and are glad we have been able to address these concerns."

Bradford have categorically stated that they will never play on the day of the Bradford fire, I think LFC should do something similar. League and cup games are not a problem, it's CL games which may be a problem in the future if a tie falls on the 15th April. Unfortunately I can't see UEFA being too flexible.

I agree though Leon, we should never play on 15th April - it's a day of mourning, rememberance and reflection.

i'm not sure where i stand on this one tbh, gut feeling says don't play on the 15th but sometimes i think it could be a fitting tribute to play on the day. bottom line though it should be the families of the 96 who's opinion counts. whatever they want they day to be, the club should set it in stone and never waiver.

just given it more thoughts and changed my mind;
it's probably fine if we play but there must be a special prematch ceremony for the 96, which can be more commemorative if done appropriately
