I saw Whitney live in Birmingham in 1986 (?) my girlfriend got some 'return' tickets from folks who couldn't go and we went down there with no idea where the seats would be. Third row, bang in the centre. Never seen before or since, such a beautiful and charismatic girl in all my life. I was spellbound and instantly fell in love. I doubt she felt the same way. Yes a wonderful, powerful if not stunning voice, but the girl behind it (as she was in those days) was equal if not more impressive. She had everything, charisma by the bucketload.

What a crying shame, what a greater shame that her family couldn't sort her out and bring her back to reality before it was too late.
