I know this may be controversial but:
Just want to congratulate The League Against Cruel Sports for it's first conviction in an English court of a huntsman who pursued foxes with hounds across Exmoor last year and effectively broke the law.
I find this SPORT abhorrent to say the least and all the talk about loss of jobs and hounds being put down doesn't wash with me.
What they don't tell you is that hounds are usuallly destroyed anyway when they get 'past it' and the fact that jobs are lost is an unfortunate by product.
It is an extremely cruel sport.
(Jobs were lost when slavery was abolished too, but we wouldn't want it brought back just to supply jobs now would we!)
I have seen pics from The League, of foxes being dug out of their earths and thrown to the hounds and of pregnant females being torn to shreads.
There is also something called cubbing where the hounds were sent after fox cubs to get their first 'taste' of blood.
Also, I have heard of hunts breeding their own foxes if they were depleted in their areas!!
Anyways, suffice to say that the law is now in force to protect these beautiful creatures. (Hope it will be strong enough to do this.)
I realise that sometimes they can make a nuisance of themselves in domestic areas, but again I put this down to man who has encrouched alot onto their territory and after all they have to go somewhere don't they.
Foxes are intelligent creatures who don't deserve all the bad press they get. I've been lucky enough to come into close contact with them and have found the later to be true.
