and my question is: (apart frmo why people think i might ruin this thread!!!)
how much cash would it take for you to wear an everton top for 24 hours and go out shopping etc
(this is a serious question, so no saying a billion pounds, would u do it for £50? £100? £500?, £1000? etc)

I haven't got alot of pennies to rub together, but I don't think I could live with myself if I did this, it would be like the ultimate betrayal.
I was once offerred a ticket by a relative of mine, (which had been paid for and he didn't want the money back), to go to Anfield. But I would've had to stand with the Spurs supporters,
as he is a spurs fan, obviously. I don't dislike Spurs, but I couldn't do it. If Liverpool had scored and I'd cheered the stewards would probably removed me anyway! I'm not saying that anyone shouldn't stand with opposition fans, as I have heard that sometimes it happens, especially if tickets are hard to come by, but just for me, I don't think I could do it, not at Anfield anyway.

Gentlemen (Andy G, Garymac, CHL, Ace)...

Thanks for the insights into the current state of the board.  As a relative newcomer (albeit one who lurked for a long time before signing up) your comments are enlightening and yet, at the same time, they have confirmed my sense of things as well...

1) General Chat is a twilight zone, with posts ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous, but it serves its purpose and entertains (usually).  What it could stand to lose is the cyber-pi.ssing contests but I suppose it's easier to be a hard man online then to be one within punching distance of the person you're antagonising so you'll never eradicate that entirely.

2) The Liverpool FC Discussion Board seems to be suffering of late, though.  As Luke says, I think a lot has to do with how well the team's playing at the moment and how well sorted Rafa's plans are.  What is there to debate really?  As such, as Gary notes, a lot of people simply come on to applaud the team and lend their voice to the chorus of general satisfaction...nothing wrong with that but, by the same token, it isn't fodder for great discussion.  I also think this is what leads to the slanging matches--with few issues of real substance to debate some posters are inflating minor disagreements into full-blown character assassinations for the sake of spicing things up.

I don't think there's any solution to this really except to wait it out.  There will certainly be things to discuss once the summer transfer picture (for us and for our competition) becomes clearer.  And, it's possible that some 'less committed' posters will seek out greener pastures once the season's done.  We'll see.

I, for one, would like to encourage more thoughtful, quality posts.  One-liners are indeed contagious Ace, but I think that insightful, well-reasoned observations can have the same effect.  If the bar gets raised by enough posters, the numpties will either have to give some thought to their own contributions or take their views elsewhere.

Just my two cents...

spot on, bob - but not exactly a question...

i very much agree with what cool hand luke (or has) said - that often the same old debate goes round and round or reappears on a regular basis as 'new' threads. once you've put the same point of view across 2 or 3 times you feel less inclined to repeat yourself.

one of the main problems with the LFC discussion is that a number of good posters have either stopped posting altogether or post very rarely, thus the good poster to numpty ratio is not a healthy one. its difficult to get interested in discussions where nothing is really being discussed.

you're absolutely right that the best medicine is to get in there and make good posts and raise the standard once again, i've said it, myself in the past - though i haven't exactly been practising what i preach recently. i notice that has is having a good go though.

its good that 'newbies' who have an intelligence and interesting point of view like yourself come along form time to time.

Is there anywhere I can buy a size 2 Teamgeist ball (the 2006 world cup one)?

Also, (but I doubt it) the roteiro ball size 2 from euro 2004?

Any help much appreciated.
