Some people are a disgrace to the human race, none more so than those who have signed up to the Raoul Moat Facebook page of support. Calling him "legend" or "hero".

The bloke who essentially couldn't get over his ex so he murdered her new partner, attempted to murder both her and a policeman (who now is blind and cannot see his kids anymore).

Also threatening to kill others including members of the public (NHS staff, etc).

The best think that ever happened was that shot to his head, killing himself was the most honourable thing he ever done, assuming it wasn't an accident.

got to agree mate. His family will reveal themselves to be utter scum as well when they see the pound signs and try to claim compo. As far as I'm concerned its one less t0sser in the world

turns out the guy knew he had problems and was asking for psychological help a year ago, on several occasions in fact, but he was largely ignored by a legal and social system which doesn't really give much of a damn about people. the saddest thing about the whole case is that if people had listened to moat, an intelligent man despite his paranoia and esteem issues, and given him the help he needed then none of these lives need to have been lost.

of course, once he has killed and maimed these people then he has to be treated as the law states. he has to be taken into custody, he has to do the time and punishment, and maybe he gets the chance to try and sort out his problems and have a go at making some small amends. the fact that the whole episode ends in another needless death and the general public revelling in the fact that 'another scumbag is off the streets' just goes to show how little compassion or attempts at understanding actually goes on in modern society.

I was in Rothbury the other day and the local pubs are selling a beer to raise money for a Raoul Moat memorial.

I had a pint and found it to be horrible with no head

i'll get my coat  :D

Im surprised there are so many 'tribute' pages on fb for this guy. Am I missing something or did he do something honorable that we have all missed?

Largely agree with what you've said there, andy. The implication tends to be that he was a "born killer" and this is a dangerous illusion to be under because to prevent you first have to understand why. What motivated this man to kill one, maim two and take his own life? And, ultimately, what might have been done - by what means, or by who - to intervene before it reached the stage where he felt compelled to kill? There are lessons to be learned on many levels and though I fully understand the feelings of anger toward the man (it should be that way as it serves a social purpose), it shouldn't come at a cost to reason.

Of course the system failed in one sense but there are many people with paranoia and self esteem issues who don't commit heinous crimes.

The stories coming out now of his intimidating nature and complete hatred of the police build a very different picture. Moat was calculated even to the extent that socialist have commented that he was very careful to portray a picture o himself to the public that was one of victim.

In my opinion, his actions and the outcome fit his crime perfectly. He didn't deserve to live after such intending and premeditating to kill innocent members of the public.

apparantly 1 year before this shooting, he was in social services asking to be seen by a psychologist !!

what moat did was dispicable, however, if the idiot needed help, social services should act quicker

do doubt lessons will be learned from all of this. Especially in regards to communication between the prison system and the police force.

In regards to the 'fan' pages on facebook, they're nothing more than morons seeking attention. IN fact, they contain more abuse TOWARDS Moat than praise for him.

If the media ignored them then they would go away.

There's no just outcome when people die or are caused serious harm so needlessly. If people want to prevent tragedies like this from happening, society must to do a lot more to understand the causes. Why Moat thought of himself and others in such a way that cuased him to kill and maim others, and then to take his own life. We need to understand why in order to intervene in the future.
