The missus and I recently watched all of Seasons 2 & 3 pretty much in a straight shot in preparation for this new season. Everything was so much better the 2nd time around and it was so nice to make the little connections you can do when you're not waiting a week for the next one. That's why my advice to Mikz would be to keep the faith, brother--it may seem a little clunky the first time through but that may be down to the fact that we don't entirely know the context of what we are looking at.

flashbacks ok , can live with that , flashforwards ok but to mix them both in the same episode hahaha

From the speculation I've read, there's talk that the date on the grave relates to the 'big lie' that the Oceanic Six are sharing about what happened on the island (alluded to in last season's finale with the Jack and Kate conversation in the flash forward, as well as in Hurley's flash forward this season). The theory is that the Oceanic Six are simply telling the world that all but the six of them died in the plane crash...which happened in 2004. Why? Who knows but it should be interesting to find out.
