Washington area in the North East matey, whereabouts are you?

Police precense is pretty strong, though they tried to smash up the police station there last night so it might just be pre-cautionary, my mates heard there's a few heading towards the galleries (a shopping centre)

Like I said earlier, us in the north east are safe, we have sod all worth robbing !

What they should do with all the ones who are caught and arrested is kit them out in a uniform and send them off to Aghanistan. We can then bring back home X amounts of soldiers who shouldnt be there. These f*ckers want to cause trouble, send them against the taliban. Sorted.

Right, next case....

Think there was something going on in Eltham earlier. Either it's dead now or it will flare up again in a few days.

Jamie Carragher writes for the Mirror: Deprived kids DO have options other than this mindless violence and destruction

Published 23:00 10/08/11

Watching the TV in anger and horror, I’ve been left scratching my head over the reasons behind the mindless violence and destruction of people’s lives and livelihoods.

None of it can be condoned. But the worry is that young people feel this is the way they should express any disaffection they have.

So my message to them is that you don’t have to go down that path.

I am one of several professional footballers who have set up charities to work with under-privileged people and communities to offer support and help in projects that can turn lives around.

Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Didier Drogba, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt are others.

And the England team have their own Foundation.

We are privileged to be in the position we are. But most of us are from the same working class areas and backgrounds as the rioting kids we seek to inspire.

My 23 Foundation works primarily with youngsters, helping them to improve their prospects and opportunities and get them off the streets to reach for their dream.

Not everyone, of course, can become a Premier League footballer. But I try to let them all know what can be achieved through hard work and respect – for themselves as well as others.

I know what it is like for them. And I know what can be possible for them.

We also hope they will realise that areas where life can be tough – like recently-targeted Bootle, where I’m from – are still home to real, decent people who do not deserve this.

There really are different choices these kids can make and different directions they can take.

Rioting is certainly not the answer.

Its the video game generation, what do you expect? They've been playing out these scenes since they were 8 and finally they have the chance to fulfill their dreams.

Society's brought this upon itself because we have no regulations nor desire to implement them.

My brother in law texted before that he hadn't heard of any trouble tonight.  I said  "Well don't get your hopes up, these kids haven't played video games in three or four nights.  They've actually gotten off the couch for a few nights and are now too tired  to cause trouble."
