Mine you they have a lot more cash to splash on their server

Yeah but they only rotate one or two posters in and out of a thread. We do 5 & 6 at a time, especially when we've got a big thread coming up!!!

As soon as any new member starts an intro thread usually in the lines of this.......

" Hello my name is Ricky and i've supported LFC for years,i've been reading this forum for months and thought it was time i said Hello and joined in. I look forward to debating with you all "YNWA!

Then usually within 5 seconds or less someone is on the poor lad telling him Judge is gay and stuff and if Judges PMs you ignore him cause he wants to ride you! :D

Then other people say Welcome and post negative smilies like this..???

The bottom line is most people dont want the Judge up their jacksy and a high percentage are not thick skinned enough to take the initial banter! :D

Maybe you could start a welcome thread Dundalk with carpets and nice curtains and stuff! :D

:D

Besides funny, he's quite right.

Plus, regular posters tend naturally to read more the other regular posters. When there a lot of posts and little time, you skip newbies posts more easily, unless they make a hell of a post -- which happens from time to time.

We have to be more newbie friendly.

Well we are just giving a warning to the new poster about judge, is anything wrong with that? :D

i would have to look back but i think my second reply was a warning about judge :D

i have to say when i did come on here for the first time everyone was great and over time i have got to know some better and other less so, but i think over all we welcome new blood in without giving them to much of a hard time

imo we get a lot of people who come on and read posts but say very little ( like myself at times ) not sure why that is??

Newkit Newbie Friendly Protocol. NNFP.  :D  :D

1/ Restrain from comments like

whatever

Oasis ??? Karim  :nod , or simply WUM.

Those answers make a lot of sense to regular posters, but confuses the casual newbie.

At some point we've all done that, me too. I remember for instance LFC2007, now he's liked by some and disliked by some, but almost nobody would tell him "Oasis" or "WUM" any more.

But LFC2007 is a stubborn bast, other possible potential regular posters might be fed off of that initial questioning.

2/ Welcome more the newbies. Some regular posters do that often and I think that's something newbies appreciate. We should do that aswell. Try to quote and encourage a good post of a newbie if you think he's made well his point, even if you have read it before. Newbies appreciate feedback.

3/ Apply the 10 posts "benefit of doubt rule". Sometimes one newbie starts discussing against something widely accepted in newkit such as zonal marking. And since they do that they're killed in the first post. Don't flame a newbie until it's quite clear he's a real wum or is talking bóllocks (such as saying repeteadly our players are all shít)

I bet a beer that if we do this we'll have more regulars next year!  I don't think though many regulars will be bothered to follow this rules, this is Newkit after all, everyone has free will!

Thanks for allowing me to participate in your forum. I have been carrying out research for a book I’m writing on Bullying.

I have to say that it is alive and kicking in the forum, not by everyone but certainly by certain individuals which I guess reflects life and work in general.

The issue is as I see it is the legal obligation that the web site owners and moderators have towards the treatment of the people who use it. And there is a legal case about to be tested on this,  the outcome of which may have implications to owners and moderators of web sites.

Now I think it has been referred to as “alto egos” but if John Barnes Granny would like to write to me personally with his real name and address I can assure him he will get the credits he deserves in the book.

I will of course be dropping into the site to see how you guys are getting on and I think it might be useful for JBG to visit the web site on bullying (which I have mentioned previously) as he may not realise what constitutes bullying and the ramifications that can emanate both legally and health wise.

The problem is no local lads are making the breakthrough to the general discussion. We need to fix the introductions thread and stop bringing in so many young foreign prospects :;):
