Well at least Joe may post something 

Now there are being some preparation games all over Europe

Spain play UK today who have some NBA players, might be interesting.

Spain have played Cuba, 4 Cuban players have requested political asylum after the game  .

BTW Joe, Ricky wanted to go to the NBA but Minnesota Timberwolves didn't come with enough money. If he has to stay in Spain, Ricky wants to play a team that's close to his grandmother, that is Joventut and Barcelona. The problem is that Real Madrid pays more than Barcelona, and the club wants to sell him to Madrid but the player doesn't want that.

Now the latest rumour is the NY Knicks might attempt to sign him for this year. Ricky has said though, that he has assumed he'll go to the NBA in 2011.

Not that I'm an expert, but I like basketball.

Used to absolutely love watching basketball...NBA and college.  Now I can hardly be a.rsed (still follow the first couple rounds of the NCAA tournament but then lose interest) and I'm not sure why.  It's partly to do with not playing the game anymore, I'm sure, as well as the fact that no one I know follows the sport very closely.  Anyways, bit of a tangent this but, on the bright side, you've got someone else posting in this thread Sabre.

NY Knicks is where I want Ricky to end up. Perfect coach for his style, and they will be splashing the cash big time starting in 2010.  I also think its important for Ricky to try and move over now, because I am not sure he is going to develop further playing another year in Spain, but Minnesota is a bit of a death trap for bright stars' careers.

I watched the final 4 of Euroleague and the games were exciting(via espn360, an online channel of ESPN); I knew some players on each team. Four of them played on my University's team.

Really hope that Eurobasket will be on tv over here, you'll have to send me some internet link if not

seriously though, i think its funny how players like Von Wafer, and Linus Kleiza, and Josh Childress prefer to go out to Europe instead of staying in the big league. i just cant understand it.

is Pau's finger still broken?

Childress got more money to go abroad. Not anything to do with the NBA not having it, but there are a lot of strange salary cap rules in the NBA and it just made more financial sense to leave and then come back in a couple of years as an unrestricted free agent.

I wonder if we will see more Brandon Jennings types in the future with top american youngsters leaving for EUrope for 1 or 2 years until they are old enough for the NBA draft.  I like it better because college basketball is getting ruined by the 1 and done kids, they make a mockery of what it means to be a student-athlete, and these future millionaires are likely not to ever need their college degree, and if they do, they will have easily made enough money to pay for college later in life

All indicates that Gasol is going to play the competition Antihero (you don't log in as often as you used to!), even if Lakers do not like it. The surgery was a success and he's expected to participate.

I agree that waiting another year would delay his progress in America, but not that he can't progress as a player any more in Europe, the level of basketball has increased quite a lot around here.

The debate around here is how important is Gasol, and whether the other NBAs (Gasol, Rudy etc) are enough to get the gold.

P.S. BTW what I told you about Ricky's grandmother is not a joke, he really has meals with her everyday, the other day there was a big article about Ricky's everyday life, I'll translate it to you one of these days when I find the time if you're interested.

and I know the quality is high, but I am just saying, Rudy has already been playing at that level for a while now, am not sure what he going to learn that is NEW that will ALSO help him play in America.  Other than his lack of physical presence, it seems to me like he has a well adapted game for American basketball.

you know, i guess you could call me ignorant, but i had never heard of rudy fernandez till i saw him in the dunk contest.


but like joe said, he seems very well rounded. able to throw it down and shoot it from the outside. looks like a better, more solid Vladimir Radmanovich.

Yep. As of late I'm taking care of my cousin some afternoons to help my sister and I've been a bit busy. I haven't seen torrents with the games.

Spain are surprisingly struggling. I cannot tell you why because I don't undertand that much about the game, but the 2-3 zone defence had lack of intensity, the arms were low, the 3 pointers didn't enter (sometimes with ridiculous 1 out of 12 percentage) the Scariolo team didn't work.

Ricky, Rudy, had received the blame of it. Marc Gasol was nervous against the game against Turkey and complained that "Having Pau, you cannot let the last play of the game to the lad that just reached to the team --Lull". So there have been some unrest Joe in the Spanish team.

However against Lituania the team improved, and now Spain only has to win to Poland to get to the quarter of finals. I haven't seen much of the rivals sorry, because I had to baby sit my cousin. But I'll tell you how it goes. If you have any questions, tell me.

Basically at some point Gasol got angry, the defensive intensity increased, the guys started to hit their chests together (whatever that's called in English) and they started to win comfortably. France hadn't lost a game until they reached us, and Greece was no challenge.

Serbia was a young finalist, with an average 21.5, nothing to do with the Divacs or the Stojacovics of the past. They're thinking more on the olympics.

Yes, it's strange to be the european champion of the two main sports of the country. It doesn't even look Spain  This is the first one in basketball, we have been second 6 or 7 times but there was always a too strong Russia or too strong Yugoslavia for us.

Now, it's obvious that in the world championship you'll have to bring your best stuff Joe. The times in which you could beat Spain with a university team are over!
