Best war flick?

In my opinion, I thought Saving Private Ryan was a very incredible war film and was a very accurate depiction of WWII times. Although just like any other Hollywood movie that is sided towards American patriotism,  it allows the audience to actually step onto the shoes of the soldier's and experience what it is actually like on the battlefield.

Other good war flicks are Black Hawk Down, Enemy at the Gates, Schindler's List, and perhaps The Pianist.

Any others?

Full metal jacket , Platoon, the Dambusters and a Bridge to far were good war flicks.

I thought Pearl Harbor was pretty good, albeit only in the effects department. Apart from that, the plot, the realism, and so on are substandard.

Being an old bugger, I continue to enjoy movies such as;

The Great Escape, The Eagle has Landed, The Guns of Naverone & even (for an Aussie flavour), On the Beach (orginal version has a more realistic feel).

Tora Tora Tora was great, and in the same vein, Battle of Midway!!! Very entertaining few hours watching those two.

Black Hawk Down.
Behind Enemy Lines.
Enemy at the Gates.

Although it's not a movie, Band of Brothers also deserves a mention, fantastic series.

Was that by Linda La Plant ?

I think that was on British Tv about six-seven year ago , if so that to was a very good one or series as it maybe.
