Metatarsal protection - Boots for support and not style

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Football boot development has recently been directed to style and so called skill proficiency, eg, The Predator Boot.
Has this development been at the expense of protection, which is now highlighted by the recent spate of broken High Profile Metatarsals.
The boot manufacturers will now jump on the Protection bandwagon.
Milking the fan's and their offspring who will need the latest in Boot Style. Its a Rip-off, as usual.  :p

its actually a 'beckham' injury - one that didn't exist until the tabloids found the need to dig out the old medical encyclopedias when golden balls nearly missed out on the world cup.

Its only because its US who are willing to buy all the football related c.rap, if these companies didnt sell it someone else would. Its not their fault we as consumers create a demand without that they wouldnt bother.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Any one else notice the link between Metatarsal injuries, man utd and old trafford.
-David Beckham, playing for MAN UTD at OLD TRAFFORD breaks metatarsal in champs league

-Wayne Rooney, during Euro 2004 breaks metatarsal, then signs for MAN UTD

-Gary Neville, playing for MAN UTD breaks metatarsal

-Steven Gerrard, playing against MAN UTD at OLD TRAFFORD, breaks metatarsal

Seriously worrying link! The F.A should act upon this immediately.

I thought it was an animal that ruled many years ago but no longer does....

If there any confusion im talking about the metatarsal not Beckham

In the case of SG. I wish the injury was confined to Manc Players.
Good BBC website on Metatarsals : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sportac....437.stm

The club should take a look at the boots the players wear to see if they provide enough support and protection. ???

My grandma talks about support and protection is it the same? Seriously the person responsible is the players themselves pretty soon their going to wake up to the fact that some of the modern boots arent giving them the right protection but from what SG said in the paper he caught his foot in the grass so not sure if the boots protection was at fault.
