Its that Alex Witsel guy who plays for Liege committing the foul. It's defintiely malicious, but I have seen one worse than that

Challenges like that happen all the time. This is an example of things going tits-up.

That style of challenge needs an out-and-out ban. Send the f*ckers off if they try and block a clearance with their studs up - it's amazing it doesn't happen more often.

10 game ban for anyone who does it.

That's in the Eduardo region. Horrendous. I can't really fathom to be honest.

Surely someone can develop some sort of extra-special shin support to help prevent that sort of fracture?

Feckin impossible mate! :D
The only thing they could do to stop the likes of that is wear metal plates down their socks!

Worst tackle I've seen! :no

I'm kind of with Lando on this one in that horrible though it was, it wasn't much worse than what you see from time to time. I really don't know how he managed to snap the fellas leg like a twig, but I absolutely gaurantee you'll have heard that clear as a bell from 30 yards away.

The sending off was right obviously, and I should think the bloke was probably quite glad to go off as his guts will have been churning over. As for a longer ban though, well he'll probably get one but I really do think he can count himself a bit unlucky. Just because someone gets horrifically injured it doesn't necessarily follow that the tacle was the worst ever. As for the poor fecker who's leg got bust, if he plays again it's a good effort.

Had the Belgian news on last night and theres more to this than meets the eye, the lad whos leg got broke there seems to be a bit of history between him and Liege over a tackle the player commited last season.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Indeed, Mohammed Sarr, a defender from Standard, said after the game that Wasilewski had planted his studs in Witsels back 2 seasons ago and that you could still see the marks.
As if excuses would make this a 'justified' challenge...

They should fine his aswel.. I think also what would be a good idea is if they send him to judge.. Plenty of man 2 man soft tackles would probably help the fella to stop makiing those harsh tackles..

I looked at it and thought that isn't uncommon, certainly not the worst I've seen as some go in feet in the air. The mere action of going in like that, or with feet off the ground, should incur a five match ban minimum if not worse. Intent proven should see a five month ban (or equivalent months to the ban for the action)

I think until these challenges regularly cause long term injuries they will be behind the queue for dealing with racism, tapping up, diving, abusing refs, use of technology, refereeing, speaking out against refs and all the other relatively trivial everyday non-events that we get obsessed with.
