Think Riise with two feet and a better footballing brain Sabre. He is versatile, can pass, cross, delivers a great freekick or corner, and works hard, but maybe doesn't use his physical attributes as much as he should. Decent header, tackler with average pace who reads the game well and has a good first touch.
He is not an all action box to box midfielder like Gerrard but someone who arrives in the box unnoticed and unexpectedly and scores his fair share of goals.
The reason for my comparison with Riise is I think he suffers/suffered a little from lack of confidence especially earlier in his career. Since becoming Captain and getting a few games for England he seems to have blossomed. Still doesn't get his shorts dirty very often though and maybe could use a little more aggression.
