They take a lot of stick referees, sometimes its fair, sometimes its not. I would hate to be a ref, the players hate you, the fans hate you and your public enemy number 1. At the match a lot of the lads take the pi$$ because I take a keen interest in refs and can name them all, their mistakes ,where there from etc. But its good to know your enemy   :p  .

Mr Poll seems to be widely recognised as the best ref, but I think he ain't. He was a good ref to be fair but he is too quick to get cards out in my opinion. He is also very egotistical and treats some of the players like kids.

The top two refs in the league at the moment in my opinion is Howard Webb and Mark Clattenburg. Webb never puts a foot wrong and controls the games a lot better than Poll.

Clattenburg is our top ref. He is sensible with his cards, and lets the game flow. He also treats the players like their his mate, which is half the battle won in my opinion.

Not to sure who the best referee is, but after the Ch@vski game, Poll gets a wee bit more of my respect. :nod

They're all W*nk.

The FA should employ Collina to give the feckers lessons in the art of refereeing.

Rather than The Crankies.

Out of this list it has to be Howard Webb..... The players semm to have a bit of respect for him and you never hear of him being slagged off.
Just watch out for Martin Atkinson though, he got onto the elite list last season and reffed the Charity/Community Shield (whatever you wanna call it) this year. He's goin' places....

All the prem referees are a bit :censored: imo, I could do a much better job. I like Rennie though, he is one of those refs who still realises football is a contact sport and allows the game to flow.

TBH I don't think that any of 'em are truelly up to the job. You look at most of 'em and they're all nearly as fat as Razor when he returned for pre-season training. I really do think that referees need to be ex-pros who've got an understanding of the game from a players point of view and not just some fat bank manager or teacher who was crap at footie and the only way they can get on a pitch is to memorize the rules and then start prancing around waving cards around like they're directing traffic.

Graham Poll gets a lot of criticism.

A bit harsh I think.

Yeah, he booked a Croat three times, but heck it was an honest mistake.

He thought that Drugen Stankovich was actually Dragen Stunkovich.

Easy mistake to make.

"The best ref is the one that is unnoticed"

Spanish saying. Unfortunately in Spain most are very well known and hated, we have a miserable level of refs around here. I don't like STAR refs ala Collina, it really písses me off when Raul made a foul and Collina went to talk to him and had a speech. If it's foul it's foul and give it. If it's yellow, show it. But don't start speechs of "oh the next one I'm going to show you a card".

As for the english ones I don't know them well. But I don't like Graham Poll. I think he  thinks he's a star ref, and sometimes applies HIS criteria rather than the stablished rules.
