If it's true that leicester are offering that much then it's an amazing deal...for us. The key is to reduce his chances of getting injured again (a tough ask), and therefore lowering his value. That means not playing him again this season unless absolutely necessary.

Just like in Kiev we shot ourselves in the foot again, I don’t know what it is when we play this crowd but when we see those white shirts our @rses seem to go.
Right from the off we looked nervy as *****, simple passes were going astray and players were taking about ten touches to get the ball under control, Madrid must have thought they were playing the Dog and Duck or the Bricklayers Arms the way our players were carrying on in that first half.
Naby seems to be carrying the can for the defeat but in truth they were all rubbish.
We are lucky to still be in the tie tbh, they could have put 5 or 6 past us there, god only knows how they managed to butcher that chance when they broke from one of our corners, they had a two on one there but managed to somehow eff it up.
Psychologically they are going to think they are already through which could work in our favour next week, if we score first at Anfield they could get a bit jittery. There’s nothing worse than when you think you have got a game won then you suddenly find that it’s all to play for and you have to go and win it again.

Poor display for the lads, we just were second best at everything. When it comes to the big stage an inexperienced CB pairing will show signs of weakness.

We needed some leadership in the back and CM, put Hendo and VVD in and we would have done a lot better and possibly won.

Found Keita starting baffling, his hardly played all season. Thiago should have started that one.

Only positive is the away goal which does change the dynamics a bit. I just worry though, will we prevent RM from scoring with our defence?
Trent can't defend to save his life, poor performance from him and the rest.
There was just no fluidity there, no leadership, RM played well together, collectively and made us look ammature.

I want to stay positive and hope we can progress but this time I'm unsure.

I hope this poor display doesn't linger on the lads in our EPL games.

In all honesty turning this tie around will probably be more of a Herculean task than the Barcelona one, although we were beaten 3-0 at the Nou Camp we were actually the better side on the night, you certainly couldnt say that about last night.
I’d even go as far as to say we were an embarrassment to the premier league last night, certainly first half anyway, there must have been Spanish football fans sat at home watching that thinking to themselves ‘these clowns are the champions??? I’d hate to see what the bottom clubs are like if these are the champions”.
How we stop them scoring at Anfield god only knows, they looked like scoring every time they attacked, I guess we’ve just got to hope they have a similar off night at our place to what we had at theirs.
That first goal is going to be crucial.

We look mentally and physically drained as a team.. and last night highlighted this. We literally have no fight left in us!

They played all their technical players and they played us off the park. Last season players like Kroos, Modric and Benzema wouldn't have time to breathe with our press nevermind having time to play 50 yards passes.

I'm worried because they're isn't a reaction when we conceed goals... Alisson just grabbed his water from behind the goal, had a little drink, and then acted like nothing had just happened.

Grobalaar would have tore Trents head off for that 2nd goal.. and the lack of closing down for the 3rd goal was embarrassing.

It was just another very bad night in what's becoming a very bad season.

The fact that we had 2 inexperienced lads at the back is what it is. The rest of that team has more than enough to compensate for it. Trent can no longer be afforded that excuse and needs to buck up. I honestly think some of you lads expected them to keep clean sheets all the way which is never going to happen.

The midfield sucked and the front 3 did F all except constantly overpass and lose it.  Keeping them out was always going to be tough so we needed to apply pressure in their half and all they could muster was the one shot on goal. We wont get past any team playing like that.

PSG, Bayern or City would spank us if we play like that.

Btw Bayern 2-3 PSG game was entertaining.

Mane has been a superb player for us and will go down as a genuine legend of this club but these days he spends more time on his @rse than on his feet, he just runs into defenders flops on the floor and then throws a strop when the ref waves play on.

Have noticed Mane carrying on like that a few times now. Once he doesn't get a decision or 2 he loses focus and is more interested in protesting at the ref rather than get his head in the game and make the difference.

We have got the best out of him and imo if he gets a big move to one of the Spanish two he will flop. Neither of those clubs will tolerate him showing up every other game and squandering the amount of chances he does.

I’m not at all sure that any big club in either Europe or the Premiership would be interested in paying a high price for a 29-year-old Mané who is currently playing like an absolute dog. I just wonder with both Firminio and Mané if they have both passed their peak.

The first half against Madrid is possibly the worst 45 minutes I've ever seen us play.

You accept that from game to game one or two players may sometimes fail to perform BUT when the entire team are having an absolute mare of a game !

f*ck it ! I'm lost for words !

Given the effort in what we've done in recent seasons, I'm wondering if we've now finally physically and mentality run ourselves into the ground ?
:(

We probably have played a worse 45 minutes in our 129 year history Woof but I must admit I’m struggling to think of one in my lifetime, I said earlier on in the thread that we were an embarrassment to the premier league in that first half and I stand by that statement, as I said there must have been Real Madrid fans sat at home watching that thinking my goodness if these are the champions what the hell are the teams at the bottom like?
Players who have won league titles, champions league’s and world club championships literally struggled to pass the ball 10 yards, even now it’s hard to get your head around how we could play so bad.
As it stands, given how they opened us up like a tin of sardines practically every time they attacked we look as good as out, logic suggests we don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell but it’s an indisputable fact that if we do get that first goal then as bad as we played on Tuesday it will be game on. Score one goal and the tie is in the balance again. Score one goal and all their dominance last Tuesday won’t really mean anything, that semi final place will be up for grabs.
Next Wednesday will be all about the first goal.

Not sure if I imagined I heard this at the start of the game but was that a plastic pitch? Could be wrong. Not making excuses anyway cos it would be same for both teams.
But either way, agreed with the comments from Woof. Chickens coming home to roost.
Still need to give some of those on the pitch a good slappin' for the way they played.

I thought it was a plastic pitch myself but apparently it was just heavily watered.

Thought all 3 midfielders were equally awful in the first half. The Madrid midfield did to us what our midfield do to others and we couldn’t handle it. Keita got taken off but all 3 of them were awful. The ball was like a hot potato and even the normally calm Gini looked unusually flustered. Thiago coming on gave us some sort of foothold in the game.

I was surprised Firmino didn’t start in an away game against a top team. It’s what he’s made for. I doubt Kroos would have been able to drop off so easily and setup the first two goals and generally control the game if Firmino had been playing. Jota barely got close to Kroos. Didn’t have a problem with Klopp bringing in Keita as fresh legs as he’s a good player but Thiago did make a difference when he came on. Think the decision not to start Firmino and Thiago was a mistake in hindsight.
