So looks like it is on, Villa will play U23, I guess it is there turn now to repeat what we did last season.

Liverpool make six changes for this evening’s FA Cup third-round tie with Aston Villa.

Caoimhin Kelleher begins in goal, while Neco Williams, Rhys Williams and James Milner join Fabinho in defence at Villa Park.

Curtis Jones is restored in midfield and Takumi Minamino forms part of the front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Liverpool: Kelleher, N. Williams, R. Williams, Fabinho, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Mane, Minamino, Salah.

Subs: Alisson, Thiago, Firmino, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Origi, Shaqiri, Robertson, Phillips, Alexander-Arnold.

7-0 to avenge the PL defeat would be great   :nod

Surprised that Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane and Salah start but rest is as expected.

Yeah looks a strongish side, wouldn’t mind a decent run in one of the domestic cup competitions for a change. I know PL and CL are priorities but the FA and League Cups are still nice to win, particularly the FA Cup given its history.

Well we should obliterate them by ton of goals as this U23 villa side have got hammered in recent games. According to the chap I heard on radio, time will tell.

We need to shape up here or it could end up one of the most embarrassing nights in our 128 year history.

Even at 1-0 I thought it has been poor but to concede and let them equalise, pathetic..

I don't know what's going on with us lot.

Waaaaaaay too slow in possession it's actually painful to watch. Wouldn't be suprised if we end up losing this. I worry for Rhys Williams with his lack of pace and us playing a high line.. It just takes another good ball over the top and it's over for us.

You can see a real lack of confidence within the team.. Mane looks completely lost, scratching his head. He came off at halftime thinking what are we doing here.

Shambles!

Distinct lack of creativity not just in this particular starting XI but at the club in general imo, we generally have tons of possession but create very few chances.

Well job done in the end but fair play to the young villa lads, played very well and should be proud of themselves for limiting us to 4 goals and even scoring one.

Have to say Thiago is such an eloquent footballer, love watching him. Like Keown said " He passes using his imagination".

The introduction of Thiago changed the game, he’s just got class written all over him, pity he’s 29 and not 19 but the way he plays (i.e relying on guile and not athleticism) he’ll still be a force at 34.

Yup I agree, just a shame he is not younger, what a joy to watch. For future games, I wouldn't mind seeing a Mid of Thiago/Shaqiri and Hendo/Wij.
