Game starts in less than an hour. Here are the team news:

Alisson, Milner, Gomez, Henderson, Robertson, Lallana, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Salah, Origi.

Subs: Adrian, Lonergan, Firmino, Mane, Jones, Alexander-Arnold, Williams

Monterrey is actually a club I've heard of, I even know some of the players in their team who have played in Europe at some point, so these shouldn't be underestimated. They're actually 8th in their league at the moment, but I'm sure they'll play out of their skin today, so we should be ready.

Despite all that, resting the players we can afford to rest is the sensible move, we have to rest players at some point, and looking at our fixture list we have no easy games coming up any time soon. We do obviously struggle with injuries though, with Henderson at CB (Virgil is ill apparently), and 2 bloody goalies on the bench (we're THAT thin)!

We should still, hopefully, have enough for these, so I hope for a slow evenining and a comfortable 3-0 and injury free win.

I don't understand 2 keepers on the bench, we did bring a squad of 23 I believe

Heard of this lot but never seen them play so don't know what to expect from them.

I will take a punt at 2.0 to us.

Be good to see how we stack up without the big lad.

Submitted a list of 23, brought only 20 or 21, the others were left behind to play A.Villa and are flying to Qatar for the final.

These 18 on the field and on the bench are all that is left of the first team squad at the moment. And people said we were lucky with injuries...

I believe Elliott, van den Berg and Hoover are on their way to Doha now

1-1 now...our lead only lasted 2mins. We are not dealing too well with set pieces

That's what happens with a makeshift defence.

This could be very anticlimactic as Monerrey are no slouches

2 seasons in a row we had a CB crisis during the mid season...we needed Fabinho as cover and now Hendo. Lest I hear any smart ass football manager telling me we don’t need another new CB because tho we have 4 capable one, they all have glass foot and couldn’t last several games in a row without breaking down. It is what it is and we can’t go on a 3rd season with this weak links

They are very physical as well...but let’s see how they deal with Mane’s direct run midway in the 2nd half

Very physical but go down at the slightest touch.

It won’t surprised me the least to see us traveling all the way and play a game and a half and come back empty handed

I fucling hate teams like these guys, playing out of their skin, fighting in this ONE match like it's the match of their lives, flying two footed tackles all around. No protection from the ref either, at the start there were a few tackles flying in there that if they made contact with a foot it would have been a season-ender.

Not a lot we can do about anything either. We're basically only resting 3 players, the rest are injured, and I can only see Mane doing any difference.
