Erm... If you watch much football you would have seen Huddersfield comfortably beat Man Utd last week, and have started the season well, plus we have injuries and have half a dozen average players in our team at least. On top of that, we struggle to score and have got a leaky defence..
Amen :)

Without Coutinho or Mane I have to say I was worried that we might not be able to break them down myself. That first half didn't do much to settle my nerves either. Huddersfield are no mugs, they beat United last week.
Today's win where we were clearly under strength and not at our best was absolutely massive though, considering we've had a mixed (if not downright poor) start to the season we somehow find ourselves only 4 points off Spurs in 3rd and 7 points off United in 2nd, whatsmore we have a decent run of fixtures ahead of us while our rivals have some tricky games coming up (United visit Chelsea next week, Spurs play Arsenal after the international break etc).
I don't know how we've done it but we've somehow managed to just about stay in touch with the top clubs, over the next month or so we have a great opportunity to get ourselves right back into the mix again.

Erm....If you watch a bit more football you might have noticed that our defence in premiership home games has been up there with the best. As of today we've Scored 9, conceded just  1  :kungfu:

When the line ups were revealed the Kop winced like it had just been on the receiving end of a kidney punch,so with an eleven inclusive of both Mignolet and (before the injury incurred in the warm up)  Lovren and the breakneck speed of Milner expectations were instantly quelled. What followed was possibly the most abject half of football I've seen for many a year, coupled with an unusually  muted kop, so quiet it came bubble wrapped ,meant things weren't looking good.

I have to admit, I for one, didn't envisage winning by three clear goals after the absolute personal purgatory I endured in the first, but the lads came out rolled up their respective sleeves and ground out the win ,which went some way to wiping the memory of a completely insipid first half of football ,OK its not a win were you feel compelled to climb the nearest rooftop and declare your devotion, but it was a much needed win to protect our home record and push us up the table.

Chamberlain played some lovely clipped balls into the box and his recent performances should give him a decent shout to be in the starting eleven ,and Wijnaldum is back on the score sheet which bodes well for the return of Lallana , Bobby converted with a deft header and our FB Gomez looked every inch the CB when he drifted into the middle to head clear any sign of danger.

I still think Huddersfield could have caused us problems but they just sat back with two banks of four and invited us onto them,to be truthful they were horrendous and showed no hint of any aspirations to move into our half albeit from long balls over the top that Gomez dealt with efficiently.

I'm fearful though that the manager will feel vindicated by opting to completely ignore the fans clamor to drop certain players and decide to play the same ineffectual line up that had Kopite's searching their pockets for co-codamol to deaden the eye strain inflicted whilst looking for signs of f*cking life on the pitch.

It was a must win and Chamberlains performance is an aspect of this game that makes football so unpredictable and now see's me backtracking on my early reservations upon his procurement ,players can sometimes prove you wrong, so always be ready for a serving of humble pie  :D

We've been here countless times mate. Numerous stages last season (and beyond that) I'd look at a run of fixtures and think, that's a good chance to go on a run and pick up a good haul of points only to be left disappointed. Been a continual theme for a while now and although on paper, you'd back us, I will be really surprised, albeit pleasantly, if we fully take advantage. The inconsistency has shown no sign of letting up and just hoping this time it is different but far from convinced yet if i'm honest.

Oxlade-chamberlain should start a lot more, especially if other midfields are injured etc. He needs games under his belt. I just thought today that Huddersfield might do wat Burnley did, park the bus and be unable to break down. So we did well to get 3 goals.

We have Lallana, Mane and Coutinho out so what more does he need in order for a start.  It hasn't been all that bad for him either as he has 9 appearances as a sub so he's getting his chance.

Yep, good point, we've looked that many gift horses in the mouth over the last few years we could have opened our own veterinary clinic specialising in dentistry. Wether we eventually take the opportunity or not the chance to make ground on the teams above us is there though.

Got the result in the end. Much needed.

I have found many of Klopp's decisions bemusing and when I saw Salah step up to take a penalty I found this another odd decision, considering Milner was on the pitch. Why?

Mignolet, Moreno, Klavan, Henderson et al, what an uninspiring lot.

We've bombed out in the last two transfer windows, and it has caught up with us.

At least we can sigh a relief this week that we got a much needed  3pts.

Klopp should start him against Maribor. If he continues to bag goals his confidence will increase and who knows maybe just maybe studge can go on a goal scoring run like he did before.
