Same old Same old

We should count ourselves lucky we got our goals and the draw, looks like nothing has changed

But alas its only the first match

We have talked about crap defending for how many seasons now? Again and again we couldn't solve this issue with different managers what a curse

New season, same problems. Always look threatening going forward. Defensively we are a shambles

Klopp needs to take full responsibility here. It's not the fault of our existing defenders that they aren't of world class calibre.

Wijnaldums header was poor but he isn't a defender. No one was marking the near post. Mignolet couldn't really do much with Watford players circling him.

Klopp needs to acquire his defensive signings as soon as possible

Midfield poor. Defence pathetic. Attack useful.

Just wait for some smartarse to come here telling me to wait (1) after first 10 games (2) end of September (3) Christmas before judging the team & players

I'm coming round to the idea that Klopp is one of the best coaches around in getting the most out of his teams from an attacking point of view but from a defenssive perspective, he falls quite a bit short.

Maybe it's the trade off for our exciting attacking play, who knows, but it just undermines everything we do further up the pitch and i'm not too sure Klopp has the answers

No offside for me, they get the benefit there, but definitely a foul on the goalie.

Still not an excuse for the shambles defending though. It's like we're stuck in limbo, reliving the same mistakes over and over again for years now. No improvement on the Liverpool of last season whatsoever.

We didn't play well but 2 of their goals were offside, we've clearly been robbed of 2 points there.
Disappointing result but tbh it's probably for the best that we didn't just go out there and wipe the floor with them, if we would have won 3 or 4 nil Jurgen and the board might have thought that we already have enough at the club to challenge the top clubs and we don't need anymore players.
Hate to say it but unless the club pull their finger out over the next couple of weeks this season has got 09/10 and 14/15 written all over it. If we play like that against Hoffenheim on Tuesday we'll be in the Europa League not the CL.

Three goals conceded to a side the bookies make favourite for relegation.

Defence (or lack of it) is what's gonna cost us this season, and for me it's not solely a question of player quality, Lovren and Matip aren't exactly Sh*t.

Our whole defensive strategy needs a complete overhaul.

I hate it when we play Can-Henderson or any 2 in the middle who dont contribute much to the side in terms of attacking flair and creativity. Lallana and Coutinho allow us to control the game from the middle and open up a bit of space for our forwards to move without the ball. As it was, we had to play a more direct style against a side that didnt exactly sit back and defend for 90. What we usually do best we couldnt do against an average Watford side and thats the most worrying sign for me.

Going forward, I'd consider replacing one of Henderson or Can with Sturridge/Solanke and play Firmino as a number 10 until  Coutinho or Lallana are back.
