So Augsburg then ,intimidating stadium ,fans are loud and apparently like to stamp in unison ,so it could be a wall of noise when we visit which will either inspire the players or see them shrinking in numbers quicker than Rolf Harris's dinner party guests.

They recently faced Bayern and although beaten 1-3 they weren't outclassed in any respect ,and certainly not overawed by Guardiolas superstars.

Their manager likes to dress like a fan ,and often performs a solo pitch invasion .

I would like to see us play on the counter for the first game and soak up the pressure ,a good strong defensive display is needed ,maybe snatch a goal or two

Now we are into the knockout stages this feels like a genuinely big game, promoting the winners of this trophy into next year's CL certainly was a good move by UEFA, it's added a hell of a lot of interest that's for sure.
For me we have got to treat every EL game from here on in like a cup final, pick our best available XI and lets see if we can take a lead back to Anfield.

We're going to batter them 5-0, Benteke all 5 despite coming on in the 84th minute.

No Flanagan or Stewart in EL squad. Injuries to Allen, Lallana, Lucas & Lovren

thanks for the heads up CR, given those injuries Jurgen may as well pick the same team that played against Villa.
We haven't got a game this weekend (FA cup) so they've got a weeks rest after this.

I think Kloppo will be pretty pleased with a week off. Out of the FA Cup as well so hopefully that's the last of the major congestion

Yeah, he's often made reference to the amount of games that the team has had to play, the effect on players fitness aside, his main gripe seemed to be how little time it left for actual "training".

Personally I wasn't too disappointed to see us go out of the FA Cup. At this stage of the season and looking at what we could achieve ( LG cup, Europa cup and top four isn't yet completely out of sight) I think we'll benefit from having one less competition to compete in.

Pick our best team and go for the win. The return leg is just before the League Cup Final, so we've really got to get the job done now. Last thing we need next week is our first team (whoever they are) playing extra time...

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see the same team as Villa.

This is very exciting!! I am looking forward to the results! But whatever happens, we should remember that these teams are just doing everything to achieve their goal so they all deserve a pat on the back. :)

Yeah good point mate, the last thing we need is extra time and penalties 2/3 days before we play City at Wembley.
Cup finals are emotionally draining at the best of times and we dont want to be running on empty before we even get there.

Btw welcome to the forum super dev!
