Villa were poor but even so not many sides put 6 past them at home, that was much more like it from us and it was great to see the likes of Sturridge, Coutinho and Firmino linking up so well.

It was good to watch but I hope nobody is getting carried away. After Couts,Danny and Firmino went off we looked nearly as bad as Villa

I'm not complaining like, but at 6 - nil, with 20 minutes to play I was thinking "Right lads, don't take your foot off the throttle. Go for double figures and really start to get the goal difference heading in the right direction", and then we brought on our £32M star striker.... And it finished 6-0.
If Benteke can't find himself a goal against a team playing as badly as Villa today, there is no hope for him. That's not a lack of confidence, that's a lack of feet! Stephen Hawking could've scored against them today!
But as I said, I ain't complaining, just making an observation. A clean sheet for Ming too. It's a sorry situation though, that I'm pleased that we kept a clean sheet against the flat-out rock bottom team, but on the upside ManUre got beat yesterday, so we're only 3 points adrift of them.
Onwards and upwards.

I recently made the point that Mign's mistakes were exacerbated by our chronic inability to score goals. If you lose 1-0 due to a goalkeeping mistake then the poor sod is absolutely castigated. If you win 6-1 and the goal the opposition score is due to a goalkeeping error then really who gives a flying fk !! Even the Whinge Committee would have a day off

Very well said my friend. In fact, if our team is playing and scoring for fun like this I doubt it would even come to the goalie making a mistake. It's in fact the useless attackers that give the opposition hope that they can get something off the game as opposed to the opinion that it's the goalie that gives them hope. A goalie can only do so much.

I'll bet on my life that if we can keep our best players fit, raise our tempo and keep scoring for fun we'll completely forget about our goalkeeper. In fact, he'll raise his form as well. I've always believed that a goalie's form depends on the team's form. If the team doesn't play well then the goalkeeper is useless.

great to hammer a result but Aston Villa were woeful.

Fantastic win, albeit against an absolutely atrocious Villa team but job done. I actually feel genuinely sorry for Villa fans.Paying to watch that shower must be really hard to take.Could have been a cricket score.

Whipping a dead horse is nothing to proud of...

But enjoy it while it lasts! Danny makes me nervous each time he moves...

I feel sorry for Villa, they're a better club than this, they need to get their act together quickly or they're down. European Cup winners.... dear dear. Once you go down its so difficult to get back up, look at Forest, Blackburn etc..

Nail on head !!

I watched Barca thrash Celta Vigo 6-1 last nght. The difference was tha t Celta actually played well. The stuff that Barca played was made of dreams. The penalty if you haven't seen it will become pary of Barca's folk lore. They will be talking about it for ever. Suarez, Messi and Neymar are possible the best forward line to ever grace a football pitch. We listen to the hype endlessly abut the Premiership but to be honest we are a country mile away from Barca and in some ways it was depressing to watch.
