Good win but why do we make it so difficult. Our defence is no better than it was 3 years ago

Good result in the end. Defence was pathetic. Rodgers should hire a better defensive coach. But our attack has become alot better...

Should have been 3-0 were it not for the amateurish defending, which can't really be blamed on Rodgers

Needed those 3 point's.  Not great defensively but think the win was the most important thing here do job done

That will do, sounded a bit nervy at the end but a wins a win. Considering how poor we have been this season we are only 5 points off the top of the table and if Coutinho would have squared that ball to Ings against Norwich we'd be in the top 4 now! That's how fine the margins are.
We've already been to the Emirates, Old Trafford and the Britannia as well so 3 of our toughest fixtures are out the way and if we can get Sturridge and Benteke firing on all cylinders you never know what could happen.

Being 5 points off the top or 2 point from 4th makes no difference unless we continue to play consistently and get points on the board.
Everton next will be a massive game.

True, they have, but for some reason whenever Everton go into Derby games as favourites they always seem to choke.

Thank God for Sturridge ,the lad makes all the difference ,I thought the passage of play for his second with Coutinho was gorgeous football ,and it was so nice to see it return. Moreno also made the difference ,along with Lucas who was superb throughout and of course Ings who actually shows the passion needed to wear this shirt . I really cant fault Sakho for Gestede's second as there are few defenders out there who would have stopped that Ruddock like monster ,he's possibly one of the best headers I've seen since Big Dunc for the Bitterz .

If we keep outscoring teams then I will be happy with that ,because in some small way it will suggest 'football' has found its way back to Anfield.
Other than that ,just a few points  Villa truly are a woeful football team ,and 'arguably' Milners best display in a red shirt ,Can needs to concentrate on defending more if this is were he's likely to be used.

Happy with the win and the return of a class finisher !

Lets scrap this 3 at the back nonsense once and for all. We dont defend any better with Can at the back, we dont attack any better because of the setup, I just cant understand why we persist with it. 4-4-2 Diamond, we'll look better going forward and we'll have a better chance of outscoring opposition since we wont be keeping clean sheets anyways.

With regards to the game, I thought Milner and Lucas were outstanding in the middle. Sturridge upfront , oh have we missed him or what.
