It's a genuine concern mate, years ago pre season was all about getting your first team ready so they hit the ground running when the season started but nowadays it seems to be all about making as much money as possible.
There's a week to go before the season starts and our best XI (or anything resembling it) hasn't even had a run out yet, pointless having a pre season.

Today's game and line-up will probably tell us how we're going to start the season. Neither Frimino nor Benteke will be playing in this one, so I guess they won't be starting against Stoke as well, which is a bit of a let down. I could understand not playing Frimino, we have plenty in his position, but playing without Benteke might be a mistake since we have a shortage of good strikers (I'm not yet convinced by Ings, who is probably going to start the game vs Stoke).

Anyway, in other news, a decent Man City side getting hammered by Stuttgard. I stand by what I said, if we're taking someone's place in the top 4, it's gonna be Man City, unless they splash the cash on another big signing or two.

Its a bit dour in fairness.

We looked a bit short of idea's at times which is a bit worrying as that was exactly how we looked at the tail end of last season but to be fair we still have our 2 biggest signings of the summer to come into the side.

The whole preseason has been like that yakka, A little better today in terms of creativity with coutinho but we still lack that cutting edge.
Benteke and Firmino are supposed to play some part in the game tomorrow but IMO it would have been more beneficial if they had of played some part tonight in what looks like most of our starting 11.

It's a little bit disconcerting to hear that mate, I thought we were quite flat today and I was hoping that performance was going to be the exception rather than the norm. We had plenty of possession but created very few chances and we are going to have to shift up a few gears if we want to beat Stoke at their place next week.
