Saturday see's the mighty reds make the trip along the M62 and up the A1 to Sunderland to run rings around and generally dish out a good twonking to these mackams. I think this game will be a turning point and we'll comfortably knock 4 past them with them managing a goal in the last minutes from Skrtyl's left nut.

Don't think we can assume we only have to show up for the points
It will be a draw but hopefully we can nick it in the end

This could be quite a tricky fixture, since they were well beaten by City at the beginning of December they have been on a decent run.
First they drew 0-0 with us at Anfield, drew against West Ham and then beat Newcastle at St James Park in the Tyne and Wear Derby, admittedly there's a bit of an aberration after that - a 3-1 loss at home to Hull but they soon got back on track with a draw against Villa and tight 3-2 loss in the return fixture against City.
In fact in gazing through their results they drew 0-0 with Chelsea at the end of November too so these do seem to like frustrating the bigger teams.
Could be tough to break this lot down.

Looks as though Sterling is still on his break in Jamaica and the team will be something like this:
Mignolet
Can Skrtel Sakho
Markovic Lucas Henderson Moreno
Gerrard Coutinho
Borini
Subs: Balotelli, Lambert, Ojo, Rossiter, Enrique, Lovren, Ward

If Sterling is not available to play i would go with Balotelli.
Borini is shocking and Lambert is worse

I'd go with that team, no problem. Why is Sterling away? Good to see you still posting 10 years in.

I think Sterling is available. He was granted time togo to jamaica as Rodgers didnt want to play him V Wimbeldon anyway.

Sterling was given time off after the Leicester game last Thursday and has been in Jamaica. For him to be involved tomorrow really he would have to have been back in training by Wednesday so his break would have only been a few days when factoring a day spent flying to Jamaica and another day flying back.
If he misses tomorrow and is not due back in training until Monday then personally I think Rodgers has got it right. Obviously thinking short term everyone would like him to play tomorrow but for the benefit of the rest of our season I think it’s the right call.

I’m not so sure starting with Balotelli and Gerrard as part of a 3 would be a good idea. Neither of them press with any real consistency or intensity so it would be a invitation to their back four to keep possession and play from the back. I’m pretty that’s why Borini will get the nod. I guess the theory is we’ll win the ball back quicker and have more possession overall.

I can't see us winning this at all. My faith is being slowly eroded away seriously

Amazing words from Gus Poyet pre-match telling Sunderland to buy a ticket for their last chance to see Stevie live.

Wow, I'm all for Brendan giving the lad a mini break because he has played a lot of footy recently but our last league game was on New Year's Day, today is the 10th, surely Raheem could have squeezed a break in there and still been available for both games?
So now we are in a position where we go into a vital league game and we've no Sturridge, no Lallana and now no Raheem because he is on holiday?
