  Manquillo      Skrtel      Lovren      Moreno

                   Henderson  Gerrard

     Markovic          Sterling            Lallana

                            Balotelli

Not bad, but I would rather play Coutinho in the number 10 role, Sterling on the right wing, with Markovic on the bench. Coutinho has been pretty bad lately but Markovic has shown nothing whatsoever to deserve a start, especially in a derby. He's not even used to neither the team nor the league yet.

Didn't Rodgers mention that Coutinho was injured? I'm sure that was the reason why he wasn't even on the bench against West Ham.
Looks a decent side on paper but the big worry for me is can our 2 man midfield of Hendo and Gerrard compete with the likes of McCarthy and Naismith who are both very busy and like to put a shift in. There's no doubt whatsoever that Martinez will have noted how Villa and West Ham both targeted Gerrard to good effect and Steven will have those two in particular all over him like a rash today.
If Everton players do press him in numbers though and Gerrard can somehow manage to get the ball away then there will be plenty of space for the likes of Sterling and Markovic to counter.
Their defence is as bad as ours so it could be a barnstormer.
Come on Liverpool!!!!!!

Sigh... I don't want to be criticising Gerrard, but he's being easily bypassed by the Everton players... This has always been gerrard's weakness, he is positionally not that great. When he was younger he makes up for it with athleticism
athleticism.

Why did Mario and sterling both go to the back post when manquillo was crossing from the right, surely going near post or mid of the area would have stood a chance of getting it

Playing well, just missing a goal. Should have been at least one up for us by now to be honest. Lallana by far the best player on the pitch, Henderson not far off. Balotelli should really take his chances.

wouldnt say its a great half but much better than what we have served up in previous games.
markovic has been poor again, woeful 1st touch and isnt running at lads, he needs to do better this half or he will be off.
lallana has been our best red in the 1st 45 and carved out our best chance from the header. unlucky not to score from it.
we might have had a pen from the baines blocked shot but equally could have conceded from moreno dragging down lukaku.
need to keep that highline up this half or else they will gain more set pieces and corners which will see us under pressure and we could go behind.
come on red men  :buttrock
markovic off for suso or coutinho around the 60th min  :nod

Decent half. Lallana is looking good, and Hendo is having a hell of a game. Markovic needs to get a bit more comfortable, and Sterling needs to get himself more involved in this game.
