Thought I would give starting a game thread a go as I had a dream about it last night.

We won 8-0.  :bowdown

Although can't remember who the scorers were.

Go on boys let's get out there and make it a reality.  :buttrock

With the 3 clubs immediately below us all having tricky away games this weekend (United at Chelsea, Spurs at Swansea and Everton away to West Brom on Monday) we really need to make hay while the sun shines.
Villa won't be pushovers (as we found last season) but the truth of the matter is if you want to compete at the top end of the table then you really need to win games like this i.e - at home to mid table opposition.
Apparently in training rodgers went with a starting XI of -mingolet, johnson, toure, skrtel, gerrard, hendo, sterling, coutinho, Sturridge and Luis. If that really is the line up then it's very attacking but I just worry a bit about that midfield with only hendo in there to do gerrards running. Then again if there was ever a fixture to just 'go for it' then it's this one.

Annoyingly I fly out to the US today. I hate it when I fly and a Liverpool game is on.

Fingers crossed it's a nice comfortable win and I land to a nice scoreline.

With SAS back in action this should be a rout.

I know it's a home game and all but we shouldn't just go there and think that showing up will be enough. Villa are a tricky opposition to play against and we must be cautious.

Anyway, Sakho and Allen are supposed to be fit. If they are, this is what I'd go for:

                                         Mignolet

               Johnson    Toure/Skrtel     Sakho    Cissokho

                                    Gerrard         Allen

                                         Henderson
                    Suarez                                    Coutinho
                                          Sturridge

If Allen is not fit, I'd go with the one that Yakka mentioned above, with Gerrard and Hendo at the heart of midfield with Coutinho in front of them and Sterling on the wing.

What ever we play though, I just pray that Gerrard and Lucas won't start together.

Looks good to me, would defo drop Lucas, he's been poor. Johnson is just lucky he's our only available right back, otherwise he'd be out too

Villa are going to be hard to beat yet I don't see them beating us. their play in the 2nd half against the Gooners was great and they were unlucky not to get a draw.
3-0 by half time would be great lol

Good line-up. I guess Allen and Sakho are still injured then?

Mignolet, Johnson, Cissokho, Skrtel, Toure, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez.

Substitutes: Jones, Kelly, Lucas, Moses, Allen, Aspas, Alberto.

Allen on the bench so he's good enough to play, but I doubt he was ever considered to start this game.

Villa are no pushovers. When we played them earlier in the season they were coming off a great win against arsenal and were in a really good place. It was a strong win, but it took a lot. They can play well against us (tho we have had some great games against them as well) so hopefully we're going into this in the right state of mind.

I'm going 3-1 to us, Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling
