Daniel Sturridge has been named in the starting XI for Liverpool's Barclays Premier League clash with Newcastle United at St James' Park – follow the action live from 5.30pm BST. In the absence of the suspended Luis Suarez, Sturridge leads the line for the Reds. Fabio Borini is fit enough to be named among the substitutes.
The Reds XI in full is: Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Carragher, Agger, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Downing, Coutinho, Sturridge.
Subs: Jones, Coates, Skrtel, Wisdom, Suso, Shelvey, Borini.

Great pass by Gerrard but this was Hendo's goal. Stole the ball then got himself into position to receive the ball and make an assist.

I have seen a distinct change in Rodgers' policies regarding passing from the back. When we're under pressure, we tend to play it a lot more on the ground from the back, get back to the basics and retain the ball to calm the opposition down. But unlike before, when we are on the ascendancy, we do not wait to launch the balls and keep the tempo up. I like it.
