Stewart Downing will fill in at left-back for the injured Jose Enrique when the Reds take on Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League at Anfield on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers has also selected Jonjo Shelvey to support Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling in attack as the hosts go in search of a third consecutive victory in the league.

The Reds team in full is:

Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Downing, Allen, Lucas, Gerrard, Sterling, Shelvey, Suarez.

Subs: Jones, Wisdom, Suso, Cole, Carragher, Henderson, Coates.

Downing back in at left back...

Also is Shelvey on the right of the front three? I'd like it to be Gerrard but I doubt it

Well Wisdom's in the subs so it means he's fit to play so why didn't we play him instead of Downing? And still, if Wisdom isn't fit we still got Robinson. I really don't understand why Rodgers insists on playing Downing.

Also, can someone tell me why did we buy Assaidi and what does he have to do to get a game?

Seems Wisdom went down the pecking order after the derby match, though no idea why he continues to persist with Downing at left back
