by red till i die!!
doesnt seem to be much interest in the match threads this season as its often the last minute before they are created.

anyway tomorrow see's the arrival of anji in our next europa encounter.
dont recall ever seeing them play before but they are top of the group and also managed by hiddink.
they have a decent squad so i expect us to have a tough game against them.they have a few ex prem players in samba, zhirkov and diarra. Add eto to that and they will be no pushovers.
we will do well to take the points.

I hope we do them. I can see a fairly weakend side. Obviously Jones will be in goal. Coates will probably be in for Agger. Skrtel should hopefully play instead of Carra though simply as Eto'os pace will destroy old Jamie.

Need to see more of Assaidi and it looks as if this and the carling cup is where he is going to be playing the majority of his football this year.

With Everton in mind and the fact we only really have 1 fit senior forward id Put Luis on the bench and use him if its necassary.

                        Jones
    Wisdom   Skrtel    Coates    Enrique

                Allen        Hendo

                       Shelvey
Downing                              Assaidi
                   Pacheco/Yesil

Tough match. High quality team, playing full of confidence. Samba is class and has the defense rock solid. Eto's in great scoring form and Hiddink is one of the best. Not sure what the odds are, but we'll have to play out of our skin for the win tonight. Difficult call for Brendan with the derby on Sunday.

Interesting, I'd thought it would they would have called it more evenly than that.

Either way the odds are hardly appealing. I think I'll be avoiding a match result bet, first goalscorer might be worth a punt. Skrtel or Agger to score first normally is 20/1 or more.

with the goodison derby on the horizon (and with the prospect of an everton win opening up a sizable gap between the two teams) i cant see rodgers playing that strong a side.
he played a strong-ish side the thursday before we played arsenal at home and in the post match press conference (and in other subsequent press conferences) rodgers has blamed that lacklustre performance against arsenal on the european game saying it took the sharpness out of the players for the weekend game.
the gap between thursday night and sunday morning is really only 2 full days so he`s probably got a point, modern center mids cover 12-13km in a game and to repeat that 2 days later has got to have some sort of effect.
rodgers knows that whilst its nice to do well in europe the premier league is what he will be ultimately be judged on.
i expect to see the likes of downing, cole, enrique, carragher, coates, assaidi, hendo, shelvey etc tonight, i`ll be surprised if there is more than 2 recognised `first teamer`s` in the starting line up.

Not keen on the rumoured line-up. Half those players need saving for the more important fixture against Everton on the weekend.

thats practically a first team, i`ll be surprised if he plays that team on a thursday night knowing he`s got probably our most intense away game of the season on the sunday morning.
then again he`s never managed a merseyside derby before so maybe he doesnt realise how crazy they are.
more players have been sent off in merseyside derbys than in any other fixture in english footy.
