Shelvey I think has been our best player. Cole deserves to be mentioned as well, along with Aquilani who showed some great passing. That kid playing right full back looks like a promising youngster. Gulasci has had some great saves as well. The only one I've been disappointed with is Eccelston. The kid should have been get rid of long time ago.

Bit harsh on Eccleston there. I do think he has some quality. Aquilani improved near the end of the first half. Early in the match he looked as if he wasn't arsed at all. I wish he could put his mind to it, to be at Liverpool.

Sorry, but I don't rate Eccelston at all. Would rather give the chance to Morgan.

How the hell is Spearing he seems to have continued as he left off at the cup final.

I can understand why Spearing is still here, in a few games he has shown some promise, but Eccleston, I just cant see anything.

Not too bad with only a few first 11 players.

Shelvey has real potential man, the kid is great. We should really play him as often as we can.

We're not that great but for some reason I really like how we're playing.

I love how hungry to get the ball we seem to be. Don't know if it's because of the new tactic involving high pressure, but what ever it is I hope we will continue to do it during this season.

its because we have some very hungry young players in there who want to impress and are able to play that system.
shelvey is gonna be a monster when he comes into his own, really good show from him tonight.

Shelvey is about ready for the first team. Physically, he looks very strong, he is good on the ball, can pass it well and gets forward when he can.

Taped it and watched it this morning.

Rodgers selected a young team again overall with a collection of what I would assume
will be bench players aside from a couple like Lucas whos nowhere near fit.

Thing is we are trying to play with a new style but just dont look to have the technicians
to make it work in the wings really. Spearing played as the key piece and controller
in there but he just doesnt have the ability or mobility to go with his undoubted graft
and commitment to his work.

You could see the lads wanted to make an impression in what was quite a high profile game
but just a bit short all round to be honest which is not that surprising given it was a young
and fringe group on the whole.

Anyone know why Reina has not joined the squad yet, all the other euro 2012 players have arrived. Even the Spanish ones for other clubs. Should we be reading anything into it.

Only had time to watch the second half, but Stephen Sama and Dani Pacheco were both the standouts for me. Sama has come on in leaps and bounds and could be a real monster centre half in a few years time. I thought Adam Morgan started really well, but unfortunately that only lasted 5 minutes and then he had no influence on the game really.

Cant wait to see a few more of the senior players return to the fold in the next day or two. Onwards and upwards!
